Arm rest Bracket the same on All Firebirds

I'm finishing a father son project and I changed out the door panels from Deluxe ones to the Standard (color change). It looks like the bracket for the arm rest is different in the Deluxe the standard is that true. Do I need to grid off the bracket from the door and attach a different style for the standard?

Thanks,

Yes the delux has a different bracket than the flat ones. I suggest renting or buying a rivet gun capable of doing 1/4" rivets. I changed mine over fairly easy. easiest thing to do is get a pin punch and knock out the centers of the old rivets before drilling out the outer part. Took me about 20 minutes a side to do, just make sure you mock up new armrest and make sure it all lines up before you attach, one hole on mine doesnt fit right...

Thanks. I pretty much could tell they were different but I wasn't getting any conformation that they were. I'll head to the junk yard and see if I can find the standard armrest. The only problem is in a junk yard you don;t have access to a grinder to grind off the rivets.

Unless someone on this forum has some they want to sale.

Dont worry about a grinder, a standard cordless drill with a 1/4" drill bit will work just as well if not better. And like I said use a pin punch or something similar and a good sized hammer to knock out the center part before you drill. Also the door should have the holes for both style arm rest brackets
