well with me putting in new guage faces i found this

ok so heres the deal i made these gauges and put them in. when i did this i noticed that i had leds glowing down on my guages kinda just hanging there. now im pretty sure thats not factory so i started looking into it and of course its not. but no matter what i do the factorys wont work.. i dont want to tare apart the dash and mess with the back of things. but i hate those damn leds i checked all the fuses and they're good and my buddy had the car for a day looked at it and said the factorys are still hooked up so whats the deal? also my shifter counsel light doesnt work are they usually something thats wired together? i dunno if anyone can help that would be awsome. cuz i want the stupid things to work right and not be all hillbilly rigged...

These cars did not come from the factory with leds, they used just regular bulbs. 1 of them being out in your cluster and 1 being out on your shifter would not have to do with a circuit or anything. You have 2 bulbs out, replace them and your good. Its not all that hard to pull out the cluster on these cars. Shifter is easy enough. Now if your saying the bulb is fine but wont stay lit, then you need a new socket cause the contacts are not good enough. If it was a fuse it would affect all of them not just 1 or 2. They are bulb# 194s if your curious

Explain it a little better what your actual problem is, its hard to read.

basically i have no interior lights at all except the leds that light up my gas guage my speedo and my tach.. the battery guage doesnt have a light and the temp doesnt have one the leds are wired all ghetto and just hangin there. i checked my fuses all of them lol and nothings blown.i have no clue what my friend looked at but he said ithe factory lights should all be working fine cuz its still all hooked up. the shifter in the middle counsel light is out as well. so that makes the factory guage lights out and the middle counsel light out. so i guess the question is what would make the the lights not work maybe like a short or something like that i dunno. the last owner must not of been able to figure it out cuz he put in the ghetto leds lol.

Are these gauges factory or aftermarket?

Without any clear pictures its hard to know what we are looking at. Are all the bulbs to your knowledge switched out LEDs and rigged seperately? I have put LEDs in my gauges and they fit right into the factory socket.

Pull off the shift plate and have a look at that bulb and tell us what it looks like.

It sucks working with ghetto rigged cars, happens to the best of us. It sometimes really amazes me what people come up with to fix stuff.

i got to thinking and maybe this would help out with my problem, heres a little more info the leds are on a switch so they are ran seperately from the originals. they are factory gauges.. could maybe my dimmer switch be not working? could that be the reason the lights are off? opened up my middle counsel and it does have the light there and it looks like its not blown even tried to put a new one in and nothing. dont those dim too? maybe it is the dimmer i dunno any other suggestios?

will the older sockets with leds fit in the 90-92 clusters?

Were these 'leds' installed by a previous owner, maybe because the dash/interior lights were not working and it was 'easier' than fixing the problem? If that's the case, pull up a wiring diagram and start troubleshooting with a meter. A good place to start would be the headlight switch to verify power to and from.

yes

as for the original poster.. one of the problems with any used car is there's a good chance a previous owner screwed something up.
Based on the installation of LEDs I'd guess the lighting circuit was in need of repair. You need to starting testing the wiring for good grounds and 12+.

Try and find a FSM and go to the electrical section for the lights. It has a flow chart on how to test to find the problem.
