Hello all, getting my First Camaro tonight and have a question already.

Well title says it all. I am buying a partly restored 89 Camaro RS with the 5.0 from my uncle. He's even throwing in his other 1 owner 89 RS with a 400 Small Block in it but that's a different matter all together. I am having a problem with the Driver side window going up and down. The passanger side works just fine but the drivers side window and the door locks will not work. Could it be a fuse or relay causing them to not work. I am not sure if one of those could be causing it since the passanger side window works ok.

Thanks for any help.

it's possible that it's a bad relay...but not likly. you most likly have a bad lock actuator and a bad window motor...

If it is all of the power equipment on your driver door, Check out the wiring harness going through to the door.. There might be a pinch or someone snagged the wires.

Or years of accumulated gunk may be the problem.

I would guess your motors are gone. If you had a short in the wiring, and the most common is in that little section from the body to the door, the fuse would blow, and the pass. door window and locks would not work either, among other things on that fuse...and if memory serves me correct, power locks and power windows are on different fuses anyway.

20 amp Fuse: locks,dome light,horn,hatch relay,lighter,power mirrors
30 amp Fuse: power windows

Does it help any to know that the previous owner said the locks and driver window was working about a week ago? Now they do nothing, I can hear the relay when i hot the lock button but they don't move. If I hit the switch for the driver window I get nothing but passanger window is still working just fine. I didn't get it last night after all (owner didn't find the tittle as planned) so i have not checked anything. Just hoping for an idea of what it could be or what to check. Thanks for all the help and comments.

I think I'd be worried more about the missing title then the window and lock.
Kidding aside I'm thinking look for a bad ground
probably corrosion buildup

Just swap your doors to manual and be done with power garbage. I just swaped my pass door to manual not that hard just cut and cap the wires and bolt a new NON POWER door on.

Well its not that hard I did mine. What you do is you buy a non power door then just unbolt your current power door, before you take the door off take wire cutters or sissors cut you wires and buy some caps and cap each wire make sure you got them on good and bolt your new door in.

Then have a multicolored or mismatched colored door?

Why be done with this "power garbabe" when it actually is nice to have when it works.

Please dont hack the car just cause something doesnt work, people are trying to help you so just give it a shot and try to fix it properly.

I was just curios on how hard swapping the "guts" of the doors would be. I have it working now, seems there is a short though so I will be going through it this weekend. I won't lie the car needs alot of TLC but i can't wait to dig in and give it what it needs, like a manual tranny and the planned rebuild of a 400 Small Block I have now.

Thanks for all the help guys. I am sure you will be hearing from me again!

Try putting your passenger window switch on the driver window wires and see if it works.

I was just giving him a idea. Besides even if you fix the power stuff its just gonna go out again anyway and say you have a dead battery or somthing and you want to put your windows down it is not going to happen. I just swaped one of my doors to non power, my doors were rusted out and bondoed up so I hade to get new doors anyway. But I guess you should try and fix your power stuff if the door is in good cond.

LOL I did that on my car but my motor was shot. Window motors always go out so I would just put a new motor in it. If you need one I got a new power window swich it is new I put it on my pass window to see if it would work HAHA but it did not (motor fired). I do not need it anymore now that I got non power doors.
