pull down hatch cover

Well I bought a pull down hatch cover and it extends and retracts nicely. But how do I keep it extended? does it attach to the hatch lid somewhere?

Yes. If your car was equipped for one there are two slots in the plastic trim panel on the inside of the hatch that it slips into. As I recall behind those slots in the plastic trim are metal pieces to hold it too. It's been a while since I converted my car to add the attaching pieces.

I do recall seeing the the plastic slits but no metal pieces for it to clip too... any ideas on where to buy something to attach it to?

What I have is one piece, the metal is intergrated into the panel.

The cover clips into 2 slots into the plastic piece underneath the hatch (the long plastic piece that extends underneath the hatch from the left side of the car to the right). There aren't any metal clips so to say underneath the this piece, but rather a 6" bracket (so to say) that is riveted to this plastic piece from the inside.

I just so happen to have my cover lying around. Hope the picture clears things up a bit.

Thank you for that descriptive and definitive portrayal!
