None of the "doors" in the AC/heating system would open or close and I assume the default would occur: air through the defrost setting only. Also, I'd think you'd have a vac leak that couldn't be good.

Does this happen when one changes the ac/heater control box (the one above the radio) ? I changed mine today from the Camaro model over to the Firebird one, and once reconnected etc, started the car, didn't have any air coming through the vents, just the defroster, even though I simply disconnected and reconnected the bundle of vac lines.

You may have created a leak where the vac lines join the 'fingers,' or perhaps the new control head's switch is bad.

Yes it will default to the Defroster, Mine went bad and I ordered another one then when I pulled my unit out it was different the one they gave me only had 3 vaccume connections and mine had 5, so I just took and drilled out the center, and used a screw to pull it back together.

If the system functioned before and doesn't now, you apparently created a vac leak when you replaced the core. Stick an ear in that vicinty and listen for hissing. Might be a vac line or vac motor. Since this is a common problem with out cars, you might consider a search (you'll find a load of info).
