Factory clutch pedal for '88 Camaro?
Factory clutch pedal for '88 Camaro?
I'm converting my '88 Camaro to a 5-speed, and the pedal assembly didn't come with either the brake or clutch pads. What do the original pedal pads look like? I have the GM pads ordered from Hawk's, but the clutch doesn't match the other two pedals (both the brake and gas pedal appear to be the same design).
This is my first third-gen, and I'm not sure what the original pedal pads would've looked like. I'm used to my '95 Z28, and the brake, clutch, and gas pedals are all the same design. Any help?

I can't recall the circumstances exactly (hey, I'm an old fart), but I believe my dealership had to search to locate the correct ones for my 85 IROC, as the originals had been discontinued and replaced with fourth gens. I went to billet pedals, so I think I have the rubber ones around somewhere, clutch and brake.

Thanks for the replies. As far as the ones I have ordered from Hawk's, I'm pretty sure the brake pedal is correct (has the correct honeycomb pattern to match the gas pedal). However, the clutch pedal is a different design altogether, and I'm thinking it might be a GM service part or something. It's a nitpicky, but I'd love to have all of the pedals match.
As far as using the 4th-gen pedals: on my '95, all three pedals are the same honeycomb design, BUT the 4th-gen clutch pedal is the same physical size as the brake pedal, while my 3rd-gen clutch pedal is noticably smaller than the brake pedal. If it weren't for that, I'd just order up new pedal pads for my '95 Z and use them on the '88.

It sounds like you left the automatic brake pedal in instead of replacing it with one from a manual.

I have an 89 factory 5 speed.
The brake and clutch pedals look identical - honeycomb pattern. The pattern also matches the gas pedal (honeycomb).
Cheers

Again, thanks for the replies. I just received my order from Hawk's Third Gen parts, and the brake pedal has the honeycomb pattern, but the clutch does not--it's a ribbed-type style (exactly what's pictured on Hawk's website). Maybe this is a service part?
And more importantly, someone mentioned that the brake and clutch pads should be the same physical size, but the pedal pads from Hawks are noticeably different. The pads match my pedal assembly: the clutch is a good bit smaller than the brake pedal.

I checked the pedals I mention above: Both are honeycombed. The clutch pedal is noticeably smaller than the brake pedal.

Man, I was afraid of that. Any ideas on where to get a new-style honeycomb pedal that's the correct size for the clutch? GM must've gone to a service part replacement; the clutch pedal they sent isn't even close!

I have no ties with these guys and I have never bought anything from them but....MODERN DAY MUSCLE - Interior
anyway some times the "help" section in parts stores like autozone has had the correct ones in the past but I can say I checked not too long ago and they did not have that specific pad at the one near me.

Hi, this is Perry from Modern Day Muscle. We do have the correct pads your looking for with the honeycomb pattern to them. The grooved style was used in the earlier model year Camaros and Firebird(although they are the same size and are interchangable with later year pedals). All 82-92 clutch pedals are smaller in size than the brake pedals. Thanks
