Gauge Problems
Problem... I just recently removed my gauge cluster to put in some blue led gauges to go with the rest of the interior lights. wired them up put the cluster back in... Started the car... speedo, odometer, oil pressure and gas gauge stopped working. Tach, Battery, n Temp gauges are fine... I disconnected the led set up and ran just the gauges no lights on Speedo worked but still no gas and oil pressure... And then i turn the headlights on and the speedo freezes were its at.... WHAT THE HELL IS THE DEAL!!

Do you mean dakota type gauges.Sometimes with the stock gauges if you dont tighten the two bottom 10mm nuts afterwards the gauges will cease to function or flicker on/off?

im not exactly sure what u mean by the Dakota Gauges... But what i do know is yes i tightened up all the bolts as tight as they can be. With them tight if u push on the cluster towards the top left corner the oil pressure gauge goes up to red line and then if u let go, it goes right back down to zero...
Seems the cars a lil possesed haha

Dakota is similar to Nordskog. They are digital panels that replace the analog gauges. As for your problem.I think you may just have a loose connection. On the back of the cluster you have a printed circut board.Anyway it can bend very easily.Perhaps its bent out of place.Or the prongs it connects to may be pushing out of place when you push the cluster in.Seems you may have to remove the cluster & take a look back there.

And I have a similar problem with my 89 RS. After a few minutes with the lights on, the right half of the tach and oil pressure gauge goes out. Sometimes the tach and oil pressure gauge quits working for a few minutes. Appears that as the lights warm things up, the ground for that side goes away. I'll be pulling out the cluster this weekend and using some wire to bridge some ground traces on the mylar circuit board on the back.
