Its a 305, with a performance exhaust, and a chip very soon, along with new gears and such...

So what gauges do you guys have your cars...I sorta like some digital stuff, and extra little gauges that measure stuff that I really don't care about...until I actually do need to care about it...

-Thanks guys!

Well I have a 85 MPH spedo and I know that I have done more then 140, just use the RPM's to calculate the speed. It's not like you get that fast to often .

Actually the governor on a 1992 RS will shut off the fuel at 110 and resume fuel at 108. Don't believe me, take a look at some of the stock .BINs from these cars.

yep L98 cars have a 10000rpm rev limiter and a 250+ mph governor

How do you calculate that? I've resorted to pacing another car to find out how fast I've gone.

Well this was about 9 years ago when I was young and stupid, but I can't remembe the exact numbers (My poor car has been in the garage for a couple of years), but I think that at about 65mph the rpm's are about 2000 and at 85mph the rpm's are at 2500 and I had it if I remember was over 4500 rpm's. I know that the numbers don't work out perfect, and I know that my spedo was about 4 mph slow at 75mph (at least that is what the cop's radar gun said!!)

I'm glad that I have an older car, no goveners!!

heh, I know what you mean. Mine hits the trip pin at 85 and just bounces back and forth. By then, I usually slow down to a steady 70/75. (I do a lot of freeway driving)

Seems to me you just need to do some math... Sorry to sound condescending, but we're not splitting atoms here...

Engine Speed, Tranny Gear Ratio, Rear End Ratio, Tire Circumference. That is all you need. Find your tire's diameter by measuring or looking it up, then you can easily find the circumference. Circumference is pi*diameter, and pi of course is 3.14159......

Further Explanation: Use the rear end ratio and tranny ratio to determine tire RPM from engine RPM, convert to revolutions per hour, use circumference to find number of feet (or inches, if you want) per hour then convert to miles per hour knowing that there are 5280 feet in a mile.

Yeah, if you google "speed calcualtions" or something like that all you have to do is type in tire size, rear end, 1-4 or 6 gear ratios and it will give you speed/RPM charts up the wazoo. Not difficult at all... also I would like to contest the 110 mph shut off... I have a '91 RS 5.0 700R trans that does 140 no problem... multiple rice burners in Grand Rapids have witnessed it first hand, as they looked at it's beautiful blue *** tearing away form them!

excuse me... tail ights tearing away from them. Not sposed to use the "A" word on here. SORRY GUYS :-(

This is the easiest way to figure out your speed >> www.smokemup.com <<

My speedo goes to 200

Look in the steering wheel thread you'll find the pic of it.

a little switch hooked up to the computer's speed limiter takes that away.lol. im not sure exactly how fast it is, but it hits the trip reset, so i assume its 140 145 or in that area
