Sat behind the wheel of my mom-inlaws grand prix the other day and thought that dash looks cool.It has the round humps over the gages speedo ect.Wonder if it would fit in my 3rd gen?Gonna get out the tape and see. What do ya all think?

dont waste your time trying to fab a grand prix dash. just get one from a 4th gen TA. it will fit perfectly and aside from re-doing some wires and HVAC stuff its pretty much a bolt in item. much easier than what youre talking about and it has the same curvy design youre looking for

sounds like an interesting idea...post some pics, take some measurements, and then go for it!

Oh I plan ta measure it all out and take the pix.Glad theres a bone yard right down the street. The biggest differance i see right off the back are it's not as long front to rear(drivers seat to windshield)as my or any 3rd gen dash.Which if I plan to cut and swap out the supports under neath the dash thats not an issue. Will find out what the supports are like as i disassemble 1 at the yard. Also at the left and right x-tremes where the windshield supports are(where the doors open) the corners are shaped totaly different.Again this will be a measure it out type thing. But the biggest concern for me will be actually trying to either mod my gages and their electric components to the new dash or the dash original components to the R/S.Either way it won't be an easy plug and play time. But if it actually works out to be doable I think it will jamm.

as an owner of a 2000 grand prix, i can say that i absolutely LOVE the dash, all the dashes in the newer cars are flat, square and really plain and boring i dunno where people get off saying they are "stylish". i think this swap would be a bit of a pain, but it would look good if you wanted to try it, i say go for it as i dont think its been done, i just hope this isnt your DD because it wont be done in a weekend i can tell you that much. heck you might be able to even integrate the HUD?

I think it would be cool as well. Probably a lot of work but I love different projects like that! If the gauges would be too much of a pain you could always go with a custom aftermarket setup.

Anyone have any pics of the dash? I'm going to go try and find some now.

Um, I really don't think "Fit perfectly" Is how i'd put it. But it does indeed fit. Just have a dremel handy, you'll be fine. also, converting from speedo cable to electronic is a bitch, or expensive.

Well i know theres gonna be a buytt load of work involved and plan ta wait till summer for it if everything looks workable that is.I have the winter to research and check out physically the dimensions. Then can procede in the summer. The car is a D/D so part the reason for the summer work. That way i have the bike and other rides ta fall back on.(don care what anyone says.Havin done it off and on for yrs Harleys and snow and TN drivers do not mix.)So plan ta do all measurements and trial disassembly at the bone yard down the road. Also realy am aware of the 4th gens dash but if that was the look i was wantin then wouldn't be considerin the other swap.I'm not the kind ta compromise if i want it and it works then it's what i want.If it don't work then i don bother and eat the idea. Will keep those interested updated as things progress....Happy hollidays everyone.....Bill
