MAJOR christmas dash issues! plz help
hey and Merry Christmas!
today for xmas i got almost everything new for my interior except for carpet and seats, but anyways i have been putting stuff in all day and now i am stuck on the dash. it seems to be that the dash is an inch too short in width. by this it doesn't come far out enough past the under dash plastics when pushed all the way to the windshield, but matches up with the defrosters. when matched up to the plastic lip, it doesn't reach the defrosters and doesn't have a cutout for the top vents for it to fit in snug. my question is what dash is this? i thought all 3rd gen dashes were swappable? here are some pics..plz help!

I'm not 100% sure on this, but the dash that looks newer but seems to be out of a Firebird. The older looking dash looks like its a Camaro. Maybe thats the issue?

I agree the new dash pad looks to be from a Firebird for two reasons;1)There's no indention in the center of the pad that would center above the HVAC vents,2)The speaker grills are the mesh type and I believe that is Firebird only.
Also the '91-'92 Camaro gauge assembly was completly different from previous years but I'm not sure if the changes included the dash pad itself.

Ditto on the firebird. Was reading about how people putting speakers in Firebird dashes usually have to knock out that meshing, and they usually glue in speaker cloth.

You can tell from the pictures that the new one narrower than the other one. Find a dash pad out of a 82-90 Camaro and you'll be fine.
