Horseshoe Shifter

Here are a few pics of the installation of a Horseshoe shifter in my third gen. It required cutting the cable mounts from the old shifter and welding them to the Horseshoe shifter after cutting the H.S Shifter up short enough to mount in the location of the stock shifter. I am not using the neutral safety. The shifter leans a bit to the passenger side so I had to trim my console a little. Thanks to Herb from www.shiftworks.com for the detent required for the swap. Also, a big thanks to my dad for helping me install the shifter for my birthday. I am working on fabricating a shift plate to cover everything up, so before I do here are some pics.

That's a nice looking install adding a good dose of nostalgia to your 3rd Gen.Seeing that shifter brings back fond memories on my '70 Monte SS.Will be interesting to see the finished conversion.

I had thought about doing this before, but decided against it. It's a great look, can't wait to see the finished product

I almost did that 6 months ago but I couldn't find an affordable shifter.

Got the shifter for about $25 off ebay-used. Used the dremel to sand down all the rough spots and remove all the shiny stuff. Then I painted it gold. Since my Z is black and gold.

Nice, when I was looking everything was going $70+, I must have been looking for the wrong year.
