crap, do i have to unbolt seatbelts to get the headliner board out of my 82 HT T/A ?

ok i removed the windshield this mornign and i have front pillar trims off and such and i notice that theres no split line in the headliner board for the seatbelts in the roof,

its an 82 the early style belts, hard top

i have to unbolt the belts to get this out of the car ??

what size is the bolt for the lower belt mount at the step sill plate

and while im positing this anyways, what is a good and safe way to remove the old foam glue from the board

safe meaning safe for the board as to not break/damage it, mine is in really nice shape even all the corners

so i want to keep it that way lol

i gotta do all this before i set the new windshield in in the next couple days

thanks

Unbolt the belts: If theres no slit then how else

What size bolt : Look and see, most are the T-47 or T-50 depending on who you ask. Some people use hex bolts when they lose a factory torx

Safe way to remove foam: I found a stiff bristle brush works well. Headliner repair and recovering is covered alot in this board. Ive posted several threads relating to this and numerour other people have even more

Good luck

I'd prolly try to make a slit, if for no other reason, for easier future removals, if any are ever necessary.

And that foam backing comes right off with a stiff brush.

82's did not have the slit, you will need to unbolt the bottom of the belt from the bottom using a T-47, so that you can slip them out through the slit for the belt in the headliner. Only 82's are like that.
