New Door Panels
When I pulled off the door panels to fix my door handles they pretty much fell apart. Where can I get the actual board piece? I dont mean it cut out, i can do that but just a sheet of it. And where would I be able to get the carpet and leather materials? Im not buying new panels or having someone else to do it I just dont have the money.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: New Door Panels
Use masonite for the backing. it'll last a lot longer, and it's good and sturdy. Not sure about the rest. Is there anything left of the skin that can be salvaged?

Just checked out your cardomain, I thought around here was the only place with an F-body for their DARE cars. lol. There are 3 running around here that people have bought and never repainted. If you've got the flat pannels then it shouldn't be too hard to remake something that looks stock.

Re: New Door Panels

There^ will probably replace the striped part with some black vinyl. how would I go about replacing the strip that seperates the two materials in the middle of the panel?

You can find those strips at any auto paint store. My local store carries about 12 or so different kinds. They're inexpensive too.

Re: New Door Panels
1) you should be able to find 1/8 inch panel board at Lowes or Home Depot.
2) use closed cell foam for the padding(1/4 inch is good) but remember to go over it first with sandpaper(on both sides!) to remove a little of the coating otherwise it will lift. You can also, once it is attached but before you go over it with a lot of pressure to secure it perminently, cut out some accent panels or strips or grooves that you can then force the leather or suede into- very trick!
3) use ultraleather or ultrasuede(you can get it from Joanne's Fabric or on the internet)- it stretches more than vinyl and is easier to work with. Looks better too...
4) use the 3M upholstery glue(the heavy duty one)
5) cut the carpet for the bottom to fit and then take it to an upholstery shop or tailor and have them hem a strip of the ultraleather around the edge- then glue it in place.
Hope this little tutorial helped!
