ratchet shifter

I want to put the ratchet shifter from B&M in my 91 formula. The only problem is that the center consoles are different and B&M says that it will no fit in my console. Can it be easily frabracated or would it just be easier to switch one out with a camaro or non formula bird

Re: ratchet shifter

I'm pretty sure the center consoles are the same as any other Firebird.

And if for some reason they are different, I'm sure it would just require some minor trimming.

Re: ratchet shifter

thats what i thought. however i did descover the difference. On the later formulas the automatic console i one piece and the console for the firebirds, camaros, Trans AM, etc. are two seperate pieces. The front half just screwing off which is wat you replace with B&Ms ratchet shifter.

Re: ratchet shifter

well if you really care about it that much, what you can do is cut away the section you no longer need, and replace it with the B&M cover. the cover will be slightly higher than the rest of the console but it will look stock none-the-less. i think the B&M cover is cheap tho and might break easily, if its possible...try to get one made out of metal if your a fabricator or something.

PS: good luck with the install.
