b&m questions

i searched this but all it brings up are pics of the shifter fully installed.

i need to know if the red cable serves a different purpose than the stock cable besides the different ways to connect to the shifters. if i found a way (i have found a way) to hook up the stock cable to the megashifter would it still work the same way with out damaging anything(transmission)??
also wondering if anyone has instructions (i bought mine used) that they could explain to me or fax to me and maybe any install pics from above and below. thanks a lot in advance!!!

nevermind i found the instructions on the bm site but pics woould be good

Re: b&m questions

I used the stock cable with my B&M Megashifter in my 89 and had no problems.

Re: b&m questions

y not just us the cable that came with the kit? its stonger then stock, and it not hard to put in.... its a good replacement for your old one which could break from all the ratchet shifting ull b doing with your new shifter... but idk it will work both ways so its up 2 u...

Re: b&m questions

actually the one that comes with the shifter is hit or miss. I installed mine exactly as I was supposed to and it ended up getting detroyed after about 3 months. Quite a few people have had the same issue. Was SOOOOOO not fun backing out of my girlfriends driveway into traffic and having to climb under the car to pop it into drive while she was on the brake.
I got the heavy duty replacement cable which seemed better constructed.
I ended up selling it and going to the T56 so I am not sure how long that lasted.

Re: b&m questions

I had the same issue with b&m's cable as well. I don't think it lasted me one summer before it broke. Its not too hard to replace though.

Re: b&m questions

im going to cut the metal piece with the hole in it where the cable mounts from the stockshifter and cut the new one off as well then weld the old tab to the new shifter unless some one has a better way of doing this?

Oh man pictures PLEASE............I am still having trouble getting mine to go thru all the gears right..I can either get to go into park, and not 1st, or 1st, and not park.........Most frustrating.I would put the stock cable back on in a flash, if it would help......Thanks, Tom
