Do to an unfortunate e-bay experience (no response for weeks then seats arrive) I have found myself with two sets of seats that both could pass as new. Which would you put in your car?

Car: 1991 Camaro RS Convertible

Seat 1: Ebony Leather from a 2000 Camaro SS Convertible <9k miles with power driver seat. Seats could be put in a new car and pass for new.

Seat 2: Black Leather from a 2002 Trans-am with power driver and driver/pass lumbar. Seats came from a car with <10k miles and look and smell like new.

 

I like the ebony leather seats. Looks absolutely gorgeous. I'm not going to base it on smell. I honestly think the top seats are nicer.

Will you keep the second set? How much did you pay for them?

 

I will be selling the set I do not use. Haven't decided price yet. I will have to say the trans-am seat are more comfortable. The stock seats in the 91 camaro had a headrest and actually look more like the trans-am seats than the camaro seats. I just wanted some 3rd gen feedback before deciding.

The T/A seats defiantley , my brother has the same ones in his '00 Ram Air WS6 T/A, and they are very comfortable, even when throwing the car around through the corners..

 

The T/A seats do look more like the original 3rd gen seats. I would use the set with the best leather condition. How much will you sell the extra set for?

 

IMO, Late Camaro seats in any Camaro just look more correct to me as it's pretty common to see the 4th gen Camaro seats in a 3rd gen Camaro and visa versa for Poncho's. You'll just have to decide which is right for your taste and what fits the back side the best.

 

I would put neither in my car because they are leather. However, I like the t/a seats over the camaro.

 

i would put the T/A seats in. if you use the camaro ones i may be interested in purchasing the T/A ones. i have 96 camaro ones now. quite comfortable, hold me well.

adjustable headrests are ugly, camaro seats look nicer

 

they are both pretty comfortable, but the TA seats hold you better when you are cornering.
I prefer the look of the Camaro seats.

Mattrick. here is my advice. These seats are not hard to install, so I would install the Camaro seats first (minus the wiring) and drive around for a day (or week) or two and see how you like the feel/look etc. And then try the Trans Am seats for another day/week. After that, you'll have a clearer opinion of what you're in for, for your baby. Of course, to adjust the seats, you can quickly rig up some power source (possibly a car batt?) so you wont have to hardwire anything...
as for me, if it wasn't for the extremely adjustable Conquest seats I have now, I'd go with the Trans Am seats

 

I like the 1st set better.

Plus with the power seats, set it to where you drive and disconnect it, Think of it as theft deterent, can't steal the car if they can't reach the pedals

We are changiing the interior over to black, having the door panels, and rear quarters professionally restored in black as well as the lower console. The T/A seats are black vs. ebony camaro seats so we are leaning towards them for that reason too. We will probably sell the camaro seats, although they have abosultely no sign of wear whereas the T/A seats have just a slight sign of use but no scratches, scuffs, or anything like that...both are pretty sweet and the best I have seen online. They both have rear seats with a solid back.

 

i would go with the T/A seat for sure.their better at holding you in the seat and since their leather you'll need that support to keep you from sliding around.

I would go with the high back buckets out of the camaro. even though the t/a seats have those awesome side bolsters, they are still a lowback seat with adjustable headrests. Early third gen camaros had the highbacks and they fit the car so much better.

I'd say the TA seats are what you should stick with. Hell, I'm looking for about the same exact seats.. black 4th gen leather TA seats..

Just my $.02 though.

 

In my opinion the trans am seats look "cooler" but for the longevity of the seat I would choose the camaro set. There are too many variables and dare I say "drastic" pieces that could go wrong with the trans am seats. IE: the bolsters. The camaro seats look more simple then the trans am seats. I would probably go with the camaro seats personally all arguments aside. I have rode in a 2000 camaro SS and I think that the seats were very comfortable. It is a tough call though... -Bob

 

The TA seats! Personally, I'd do neither, since they are leather. I've got cloth versions of the Camaro seats in your pic.

 

We went with the T/A seats and they are awesome! I will post pics soon and will be selling the camaro seats sometime in June when I am back from vacation and around to answer emails regarding them. I'll let you know when they are up for sale.

oh man, didn't get to put my two cents in...at least you kept the seats that function better, although the camaro seats are more "politically correct".

4th gen seats are just nice either way...

Glad you decided to stay with the TA seats. They are much better seats IMO. The Camaro seats just look like the base 3rd gen seats with some leather thrown on.
