Lighting it up blue.
Im going to try an experiment and need some help.
What i plan on doing is going black and blue with my car. Its all black its an 89 rs. And on the int im going to go blue. Lighting that is. I want to make it so my dash lights up blue. And then i don't want neon tubes but i want to get like the feet area to glow blue but somewhat dim. Not bright but i want to turn it on and in side see it.
So the question is can any one give me like a guide kind of thing on how to go about this?

Re: Lighting it up blue.
A good place to start would be to change your Dome light, your footwell lights, and your map light to blue bulbs... and while your dome lense is off, cover the white plastic around your bulb in that mirror like ducting tape.
I did mine like that today and BAM!! Insane amount of light.
I did the above with red bulbs and I absolutely love it, along with putting red LED bulbs in my HVAC and auto shifter lights.. What really sets my interior off is my Digital dash
About your feet area, go to the rice section of Autozone and buy some LED strips.

Were did you get your digital dash ash? and i think im going to completely take out the dome night. Right now my headliner is off and i wrapped the wires in electrical tape so its not as noticable but i might just completly take it out. who knows. Im going to have to hit up autozone soon though.

Re: Lighting it up blue.
Can I get more information on the bulb you used for your dome light? Where did you get it? Whats the technical name for it? (searched for what you called it, with no results)

http://www.superbrightleds.com/festoon.html
"44 x 10 mm Festoon base with 9 LEDs"
-that is the correct size for our dome lights.

As for lighting up the floorboards, I made a write up a while ago.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/auto...nder-10-a.html
Pretty easy, same method applies for any types of lights.

Re: Lighting it up blue.
quick question, with the dome light, does the led dome lightbulb come with the hooks required, or do I need to modify something?
Re: Lighting it up blue.
Hooks?? I know there are hook kind in the hatch (LED wont work unless you solder/modify hooks to them) but the dome you just pop/slide in. Unless you got something diff setup???

Re: Lighting it up blue.

Though looking at it, it looks like who ever had the car before more (haven't had to change this bulb in the 3 years I've owned the car) just put a hooked bulb in there. It should just slide in then correct?
Little OT: You see the peg hanging down used to hold the dome light up there? Im missing one of the nuts. Any idea where to get one? If they are at the local autoparts store, wtf are they called bc last time I told them what its for, they were like huh?

Re: Lighting it up blue.
OK, I'm having a little bit of trouble on the wiring. I have the lights in the foot well and I have the switch under my vents to light up the center console. My only problem is I don't know which wires to connect to where. I have the ground wires already grounded on the lights and I've run the hot wire from the pass. side behind the radio pod and spliced it into the driver side light. but where do I go from there? I know i have to ground the switch as well, but there are 3 prongs on it. one says "earth," another labeled "supply," and the last "load." And as for getting power for all this I can't figure out which wires have constant power under the dash.

Re: Lighting it up blue.
Alright, I've finally finished wiring everything and it is all done. However, now I have a new problem. I keep blowing fuses. It's the fuse that is for the stereo, interior lights and door locks. it's a 20 watt fuse. The first time it blew I thought that I should just replace it with a 25 watt fuse but that one still blew as soon as I turned the foot well lights off. should I keep upping the fuse wattage until it stops blowing or should I find a different power source. Right now it is spliced into the wire that leads to the driver side courtesy light. Any advice is much appreciated.

-Let us know if that fixed it.
