Question about AutoMeter trans temp gauges
Which one is easier to set up on a 700R4, the electrical or mechanical guage? Or is there only one that works?

Re: Question about AutoMeter trans temp gauges
Do they make a mechanical one? Either one would be about a similar effort to install as the other.

Re: Question about AutoMeter trans temp gauges
the electrical one is easy, tap a sender into your pan or adapt it to your line with brass fittings and hook up the sender/wire to the gauge.. I didn`t even know they made a mechanical one either but if it is like a mercury line type, I could see that being a pain with spring covered line that you can not cut

Re: Question about AutoMeter trans temp gauges
The sender for the eletrical guage screws right into the test port on the left hand side of the tranny. Just unscrew the plug and screw in the sender, no drilling required.

Re: Question about AutoMeter trans temp gauges
Well I had a trans, engine and coolent temp gages mounted (just for testing) in my car at the same time and road around for a month before I realized that the trans and engine oil temps were always very close to the coolent temp. Now if your towing that s another story.
