Exotic Interior?

SO, we have an evoluzione (bash now. k, done.) And we are looking for interior ideas. I really liked the RX-8 center console, and the 4th gen swaps are really neat, but what are some of your ideas for an interior in an exotic looking rebody? something that wouldnt be a dead give away that its a camaro? ("leave it stock" isnt an option because the interior is 100% gutted.)

Thanks!

Re: Exotic Interior?

A newer GTO interior would look good.

Re: Exotic Interior?

You're almost going to be stuck with either going with a 3rd gen dash or a 4th gen dash. Anything newer(about 97 and up) that is chevy has Lsx gauges which are ran off of serial data from the ls1/2 computer.

The great things about 4th gen gauge clusters are they can work with any gm v6, V8 sbc, lt1, or ls1 depending on which gauge cluster you get. Parts can be found easily and not for a bad price for the rest of the dash pieces. Wiring schematics can be found on the net and information on how to wire them up is here on thirdgen.org.

However, if you wanted to run aftermarket gauges from like autometer, you could fab up a gauge cluster panel on any dash. Its not going to be cheap though, the gauges themselves will run probably close to $500.

Maybe check out some of the kit car companies or kit car magazines for some ideas. I just seen a dodge viper replica kit car last weekend that had a corvette lt1 and was built on a vette or camaro chassis.

Re: Exotic Interior?

Custom dash

Maybe carpet/vinyl covered wood or aluminum frame or a different car dash

The 4th gen swap is pretty standard anymore

Re: Exotic Interior?

the evo has a bored out 454 chevy engine in it, and the entire camaro ecu is getting tossed. we have a painless kit, so would the guages kinda be what we pick? we wouldnt mind fabbing in a fourth gen digital cluster into some other dash either.

Re: Exotic Interior?

These would work with your V8:
A 93-97 Firebird V8 cluster, a 97 Camaro V8 cluster, a 93-96 camaro cluster. The 97 camaro cluster and 93-97 firebird cluster can be put in the same dash, they are almost interchangeable.

Re: Exotic Interior?

Just go full custom. It is by far the best way to stay origional, have great gauges and make stuff look clean...

Here is mine back in the winter. I have since cleaned it up a little and tucked away the wires and stuff. She is done now, but this is one of the most recent pics from my site.

Check out my CD site of you wanna see 30 pages of how I built the entire car
