Pedal extensions?

Kinda an odd situation... I'm a bit on the short side, ~5'6". I mounted my seat (fixed back) to where the pedals were comfortable, but the steering wheel (removable) is a bit close for comfort for driving and it's hard to get out of the car (around the shoulder supports and over the rollcage). The steering wheel I'm sure can be resolved by getting a smaller diameter and shallower dish.

Just for grins, I drilled some new holes and I moved the seat back ~1.5" Now it's much easier to get out, steering wheel position is alot more natural, but now it's a slight stretch to fully depress the cluth and to floor the gas.

Has anyone modified their pedals to bring them closer or used something such as aftermarket pedals found on ebay to bring the pedals up? I'm not sure I'm that confident with the aftermarket ones staying in place. How are they attached? Anyone with experience?
