1982 Berlinetta in yard

I found an 82 berlinetta, black on black, the other day looking for interior parts. The car had 95k miles and was above average shape for a 25 year old junk yard car. While removing some much-needed parts, I noticed a couple of unusual items on the car.

This car had a 6 digit analog odometer. I did a double-take when I saw this. 6 digits + tenths place. I didn't think 6 digit odo's made it into camaros until 1990...Anyone with an 82-84 with a 6 digit analog odometer?

I also found a console clock. I have seen these in small numbers on the net, but never in person. Should I snag this up and get it running again?

Thanks to all who reply. I want to save the best parts of such a nice 3rd gen before it's too late (I'm going back thursday morning)

Re: 1982 Berlinetta in yard

Did the speedometer have a dual or single needle? It should be a dual needle(one side MPH and the other side KPH)unless the export models were different. There is a dealer replacement(I have one in my '83),and aftermarket one, that's single needle but it has Z28 silkscreened in the lower right corner. But even these have the 5 digit odometer(there has been a 6 digit single needle version on Ebay recently).

The console clock is a neat item. But it's one of those love/hate things and they are troublesome. If you want it I would take the complete console as the factory cutout for the clock is clean. But if you look under any year 3rd gen camaro console the 3 mounting post for the clock are there.

Also the '82 shift plate is a hard item to come by(whether it's 3 speed auto or 4 speed manual). And the front seat belts and sill plates are unique to '82.Check through the threads for other unique '82 items.

I think they are black (according to his first post) the door sills would be nice for a 4th Gen door panel swap....

Re: 1982 Berlinetta in yard

I got the driver side kick panel and sill plate. I just now figured out it's unique to 82. Hopefully this can still work on my 89?

Rear seat belts were black, fronts were gone (I'm assuming they were black also).
Gauges were dual needle. I've seen these before but never a 6 digit-odo version. I'll see if I can grab a couple more parts (this yard crushes them too fast so I must act)
