Get yourself a putty knife,........ with a 4" or 5" blade.
Raise the headrest up as far as possible. Insert the blade in the space in front of the metal bar ( not the back ) and push down as far as possible while the headrest is all the way up. Once you get the blade in as far as possible...... push down on the putty knife while pushing the headrest down. ( this will leave a temporary indent in the headrest. )
Now that the putty knife blade is pushed all the way down - and the headrest is all the way down...... hold the putty knife down while pulling up on the headrest. The putty knife blade should be holding the locking 'pin' back and allow the headrest ot come off.
