I don't like the T bar shifter on my 1990 RS. Will a 1986 to 1987 auto trans shifter **** fit? What needs to be done to swap 'em?

 

in 4th gens all you had to do was unscrew one and screw on the other. Yours might be the same way.

 

If its a stock shifter the boxier Camaro shift **** will work. I believe its 1987 to 2002. The round Camaro one will not work if memory serves me right.

But sounds to me if you have a Camaro and a T handle its not a stock shifter.

This is true, the T-handle is a firebird thing.

 

Or he might have a after market shifter all together?

Can you post a pic of the shifter so we can tell if it is aftermarket or not? Sounds like it to me.

 

My shifter handle is the factory T handle like on some 3rd gen firebirds.
