SEAT BELT RECALL ???
yes i did search . could not find any recent info . i am wondering if anyone has tried the seat belt recall in recent times . if so what response from the dealership ? i talked to previous/original owner of my car and it had not been done . i have heard that 1.5 million cars where affected . any feedback is good . thanks .

Re: SEAT BELT RECALL ???
Hey UNCLE TOM, remember the days we would not think of using a seatbelt unless we were at the track and they made us wear one or not race? Now, I would not consider getting in a car without one on. I seem to remember a recent post, in the past month? about the recall. If I run across it again I will send you the link or whatever is there. Jim

Check with your local dealer. I work at Chevrolet here, my car is under the recall as well. The problem is they are low on color choices if still available at all nationwide.
Don't wait if your belts are really bad? I don't thing they will make more once the supply is absorbed, they will need to be replaced by the owner.....I am told by sources not too high up, aka, parts guys, .

Re: SEAT BELT RECALL ???
It had to do with the plastic push buttons. The plastic was of incredibly poor quality. They would fade (red to pink in most cases), break-down and often would crack and fall apart. Not a good thing in an accident.
I had mine done, but it was 7 years ago. Ask about Campain Recall #90043. And the GM (Chevy) part # is 14097930.
Here's a copy of my receipt (I've posted here before) for proof. It's item "A". Bring a copy with you as proof (note: it is a Canadian receipt).
Good luck.

Re: SEAT BELT RECALL ???
Don't waist your time. It's easier just buying the buttons and putting them in yourself.1st your going to have to leave the car at the dealers and need a ride to drop it off and pic it up,I think these sell for about $15.00 if that,So time+gas=lose

Yup, buy the button kit, install it yourself and be time and money ahead.

Another +1 for the button kit. I'd recommend buying a seatbelt from a junkyard to practice on first before doing yours, I broke one of my otherwise nice rear ones and it was a PITA to find another used Gray replacement for some reason.

Re: SEAT BELT RECALL ???
You guys noticed this is a 7 year old post right? Lol I'm just going to hit up a parts yard and get some 4th Gen belts, I hate the double retractor setup on 3rd gens.

Going to the dealer and asking about the "recall" or the button repair kit and
they will look at you like you are a crazy person! Same deal with the gas tank
recall. (except for a lucky few who have been successful)
You best bet is to hit up a local salvage yard and look for the female recievers
and sleeves out of a late 70s to a mid 80s GM.................
