An 85 Camaro , should have a Speedometer Cable, not a VSS

Re: autometer gauges question

What engine do you have? If you have an ECM there should be wires coming off the transmission that are your VSS wires going to the ECM you could tap into those and run them to your speedo. I can't remember what year they started putting the VSS on the transmission though. If Autometer doesn't make an adapter you might have to change your tailshaft housing.

I'm not a hundred percent on this, you might want to do a search as I'm sure your not the first to attempt this.

Re: autometer gauges question

Well, judging by the other topic I assume your talking about doing a T-56 swap with electronic guages. It's simple enough, although fairly costly if you're keeping your ECM.

Assuming you want to keep your ECM and/or cruise control, you will need to pick up a Dakota Digital SGI box (should be SGI-c or something) and wire it it up. You then need to find and cut the two brown wires coming out of the guage cluster connectors. One goes to the cruise control module, and the other to the ECM. You will need to split the VSS signal, and run one to the speedo, and the other too the DD box. You will then need to run the buffered output into those two wires.
