Other Model seating for our 3 gens

Im going to the junkyard tomorrow and looking for some neat seats to replace the once in my 91 Firebird. Maybe this was asked before but would 90's Grand ams or Grand Prix seats fit our 3 gens firebird. Im also might look into 4th gens seat which I was told that 4th seats would fit our 3rdgens.

4th gens are a direct fit

Early 90's Grand Am's and Fieros are also direct fit and style for the fronts, but they lack the forward tilt since they were not 2+2 cars

the grand am seats fold if in a 2 door, they are the same seats as a sunbird. The fiero ones also fold, but I think you have to pull a handle on them (there is a storage compartment behind the front seats)

Re: Other Model seating for our 3 gens

I'm glad that you asked. I was getting ready to start searching for some replacement seats as well. Obviously, I guess the laws of supply and demand kick in and make the 3rd gen seats hard to find. Is there any reason to even try to find 3rd gen seats (87 T/A) or are the seats close to identical. And on that note, how much should I be expecting to pay for 2 front seats from a junk yard.
I'm half tempted to pay the $800 for the leather black/tan seats that I've seen on Hawks. Not too sure that the wife will appreciate the purchase as much as I will though!!

Wife will like the ebay price alot more than Hawks markup

Being the owner of 5 Fieros, I can say with certainty there is no compartment or anything behind the seats. They have a handle for a slight forward lean but nowhere near the 3rd gen tilt. This handle is to recline the seat back

This and the fact that my 89 bird has Fiero seats in it

Car: basic third gens
Engine: that I like
Transmission: to restore
Axle/Gears: and enjoy
Re: Other Model seating for our 3 gens

Most all '80s through mid '90s GM front seats will bolt to the third gen seat tracks, with a couple exceptions. Beretta/Corsica I know have some goofy track setup and everything is different.

Well I had a customer that had me put 2 15's behind the seats in his fiero, and the seats leaned forward enough to get back there

Re: Other Model seating for our 3 gens

How about early 90's Pontiac Grand Prix seats. SOme of their leather setup are nice looking. This junkyard I go to has half price days every wednesday. So if their leather or cloth the price for all 5 pieces come to $48 bucks. IF you think thats a crazy price. Just yesterday I was looking for a tire for my brothers ford. Never did find one but came upon a 67 Ford Mustang with black interior. I didnt waste any time. The seats are vinyl and almost mint and paid $40 bucks for them and the going rate for something so rare is around $1200. Not only did I get the seats but I pretty much took everything else. Complete dash all the lights seat belts etc. Paid for everything total $100 and once everything is sold. I say around $2000. Not a bad day yesterday was. I was hooked so bad on this mustang that I didnt even look for seat for my bird. Will go back this weekend.
