Hatch Pull Down Latch Mounting

Hi,

So just bought a black 88' Camaro Iroc and the pull down latch was not mounted. I have taken off the plastic panel in the back and I don't see any mounting holes and the pull down unit doesn't seem to fit well. Is there a mount or something I need?

Pics of an installed one would probably be helpful if someone has them.

Cheers,

Isaac

A pic like this with the pull down mount would be helpful. I don't see any mounting holes?

Re: Hatch Pull Down Latch Mounting

yea you've been robbed of the mounting bracket...your going to need to go to a junk yard with tools and a power drill and drill out the spot welds of a bracket and re-weld it to your car...as far as measurements i can try and help you out but it's not going to be fun...here are the pics you asked for...this is from a bird...but they may be identical bird to maro...but either way you will get the idea.

U MITE WANT TO CHECK YOUR MOTORIZED LATCH ASSEMBLY TO MAKE SURE IT WILL WORK.

It looks like a good time to throw out the motorize latch and get a standard latch. The motorize one has all kinds of issues.

Amen Brother! I have replaced the motorized one twice and have rebuilt the 2nd once thanks to Top Down Solutions for the great rebuild parts. But do not use the motorized latch if you can help it - even rebuilt it SUX.

Re: Hatch Pull Down Latch Mounting

I've went thru three of the motorize latches in the last two and a half years. I don't even drive the car that much!

The first one was just old, the plastic guides wore out & cracked the gear housing. The second one, Ice built up under the trunck lid. Then when the latch came down it striped the gears. The third one is a rebuild from parts of #1 & #2 but, it works!

I guess I've installed three but only two have went bad
