Dash Replacement
Dash Replacement
Can anyone point me in the direction for some instructions for removing and replacing a dashboard? Looked through the technical articles to no avail. Anyways, how serious of an undertaking is this? Looking at a descent Third Gen with a badly cracked dash. Never done any kind of interior work what so ever, a real neophyte. Would I be better off finding a car with a good dash? lol
Not looking to swap any instruments, just the dash pad.

Re: Dash Replacement
the screws are directly underneath the dash pad itself, all along the outside perimeter of the pad. not just by the gauges

Do the contortionist thing and lay your back onto the seat bottom and look at the underside of the lip of the dash and you will see the screws.

Re: Dash Replacement
Well since this is the closest post to my question, if you happen to accidentally drop a screw (one of the 4 in the front) and it falls into the defrost vents, how would one go about obtaining the screw? I tried fishing it out with a magnet on a string, but I could not find it. Taking out the dash to get to the vents is an option, but then I would need to know how to get the dash off to access the vents. My car is a 1987 IROC-Z. I have a whole week of spring break to do whatever, and I have already taken the speedometer out because we have to get it fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
