Hey Guys!
Hey Guys!
Ok. So I've waited 21 years to have my 1986 IrocZ28. I was in a bad car accident when I was 17, I have had to have a couple of surgeries since November. My neck was stuck in place and my only option was have prolotherapy done before infusing the bones. My husband bought me a new Polaris Outlaw a year ago as a gift, and unfortunately my doctor said no to four wheeling horseback riding, roller coasters, etc. So, feeling bad for me, my husband had just bought a 1966 F100 with a super Cobra jet engine. Well, concience came through and he asked since I can't do the four wheeling thing, what kind of car do I want? Me, as I am I of course named several muscle cars. Expensive of course. And Then i remembered the time in my childhood when my step-dad and I looked at the Camaro as a God. I dreamed of this car. Fortunately it came available for 3000.00 and my husband bought it for me. It was in great condition! Sound all electrical worked and baby goes! I am so excited! I even insist on paying for everything on my own down to the oil changes. Which I did, by the way last week, under the lift . I don't mind getting dirty with this project. It is now my baby. I was wondering... Is it common for the locking mechanisms to be missing in the T-tops? If so, where would I purchase those? And also, They rattle terribly, about the only downfall. How do i fix that problem?

hey great to hear a good ending to a sad story. The lock mech as in the pins that lock to the car or the actual locks for keys? if the keys then someone may have gotten them at a junk yard and poped out locks so they could use them. You can pick up locks prolly at like auto zone but i know that classic industries sells locks for $50. The rattle could be from them being loose. Do they leak? if its where they are loose then take them and take of the a pillar and the plastic behind the door on the 1/4 panel and adjust the mounts for the t tops down some and then lock the t tops in and try to see if they rattle. keep playing with them and you should fix it. Thats the only thing i know. also post some pics of that dream car. -Matt

Hey, thanks for your reply. Nice car. I haven't posted pictures because one the weather, can't keep it clean long enough right now. I'm driving it and having fun. And two, it looks a little rough around the edges. it doesn't need any body work, and has no rust. The paint just looks bad. I was wondering about the locks for the T tops above the door, they are acually gone. And the plastic is cracked where they are missing and it looks like whoever tightened the plastic down did it so tight that the screws are now slipping causing the rattling noise. I believe if I replace the plastic pieces with ones that have the locks in them I may cure the problem. Depending on whether I find them or not. Not to mention I can Lock the tops again. Where would I even begin looking for them? Thanks, Lisa

Ok. Duh, it would help that I didn't reply when under the influence of cold meds. I know I need to get a new seal kit. That would help reduce the leaking, and If I purchased the locks, I would still have to replace that cracked plastic right? Seriously, Im really not a blonde. Thanks
