Re: Hatch Motor expired I think

First you can try pressing on the striker sensing switch. That is a small switch that is pressed by the hatch hook to start the pull-down units down cycle. It is located just in front of the latch and is held onto the latch assy by a small hex-head screw. There are four wires coming out of the switch. If pessing the switch does nothing, then remove the hatch surround trim panel. Two Phillips screws, one on each side of the hole that the latch of the pull-dow latch protrudes through and four large plastic screws to remove to get the panel out. Unplug the red/white stripe wire from the blue wire and test it for 12v. If you get no voltage at that wire check for a blown fuse. It might help you to dowload the Tech Article on repairing these pull-doen motors I wrote that is posted on Thirdgen.org.

Just to let you know, the contact pad you posted a picture of has absolutely nothing to do with the hatch pull-down unit. It powers the HMSL (aka third brake light).

sweet thanks, Just to let you know the hatch button does work and does release if pressed. I have no idea what the problem could be

Re: Hatch Motor expired I think

The hatch release solenoid is powered on a different circuit than the pull-down motor.

the same exact thing happened to my 92 RS, except my dumbass pushed it down too hard and i broke something in the motor, so i went in and moved everything out of the way of the lock and it closes fine, i just cant open it via the switch, only manually. those motoros are very hard to come by, so dont do anything to break it!
