Grant Steering Wheel Install??

I bought a grant wheel from jegs, "Challanger". Do I need a steering wheel puller to take off the stock wheel?

Re: Grant Steering Wheel Install??

I just bought a Challenger as well off eBay with the install kit. Black spokes. As far as I know you will need a wheel puller. I didnt get to mine yet.

Yes, you will need a wheel puller to get the steering wheel off.

Re: Grant Steering Wheel Install??

Yes you will need a wheel puller. You don't have to get an expensive one. But you will need the Grant installation kit.

Re: Grant Steering Wheel Install??

On my previous third gen I yanked mine without a puller. Not that hard. Lol.

Post a pic of the wheel, and how it feels when you drive. I am in the market for another one here soon.

Thanks.

Re: Grant Steering Wheel Install??

I`ve got the GRT-742 with the billet hub in my `88 Iroc and it not only looks and feels much better than the stock wheel, I get compliments on it every time someone looks in my car and I`m not even a "*******"! Not bad for an old "hippy" huh? One of the many good things about living in the good old U. S. of A. is that we can personalize our cars even if someone does`nt like it. Keep up the good work luni.

Re: Grant Steering Wheel Install??

I personally find it hard to 'one hand' the stock pontiac 92 air bag wheel. Its a bit too even throughout, and the faded slick leather does not help it.

By this time I think that 90% of our cars (unless you have really low miles, and even then) have steering wheels that need to be replaced. Its usually the material fading, sometimes chipping, but mostly getting really slick from use.

Getting a nice steering wheel is more than just a visual upgrade if you ask me. Now, I personally had the 25 dollar grant steering wheel in my car (installed by previous owner) and I liked how it felt while driving. Still, i would like to spend some dough (not too much though), to get a nice steering wheel. Momo wheels come to mind.

Re: Grant Steering Wheel Install??

Grant has some very nice wheels that are a lot more than $25. My `88 Iroc still had the original wheel and the leather was well worn out. My car is now easy to one hand. The part I like best is the optional billet hub and mounting kit. It sure works better than the cheap install kit. I used the cheap horn kit on a `68 El Camino I used to have and one night the horn cap popped off, set off the car alarm. So here I am with the horn going full blast and the alarm siren going off at the same time with me in my shorts at 3 am waken from a sound sleep with no glasses looking in a dark engine compartment trying to turn off everything as the neighbors look on pissed off! No more cheap horn caps for me!

Re: Grant Steering Wheel Install??

when you do the install kit make sure you do not forget the small spacer washer that you NEED to put on the shaft.

Re: Grant Steering Wheel Install??

not tryin to thread hijack but its related... i just bought a grant formula GT wheel with the install kit used (here is a pic so you can see all the parts https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/itra...r=2461&u=43614 ) and am wondering if everything I need is there. What is this small spacer washer that has to be put on the shaft? Thanks
