90 Iroc Steering column screwup

ok, so i sold my 1990 Iroc Z28 to someone who wated to restore it but they let it sit and made it get worse. I baught it back (for 900$ which was a greatttt deal) and they did somthing to the steering column.....
Although its in pretty good condition the Infl-Rest light stays on all the time. Basically the whole steering wheel on the left side is falling off. you have to push in the left side in order to turn on and off the car. it looks like there is a missing screw and i looked on my firebird and it looks like a screw but if u look at the pictures maybe someone would know about this problem?
i dont want to replace the steering wheel if there is like a piece i can order from somewhere but look at the picture and let me know what you think it is!

I know this is a really old post, but I figure maybe you subscribed to the thread and will see the answer anyway. Better late than never right?

Looks like the other guy was trying to fix the tilt steering. I can sympathize, the clown who "worked on" my wife's Camaro managed to trash the tilt steering, too.

That round hole at the back of the steering column, sort of under the tilt lever, is where a "pivot pin" goes. There is another one on the opposite side (or a hole where one should be). Scroll down a bit in the FAQ post linked below for a discussion of disassembling the steering column. The last picture is demonstrating how to use a bolt to pull the pins.

I know im resurrecting the dead but just for anyone having this problem....first of all you said it sat for a long time...was it in a safe area because that is a drill hole in the column just behind the tilt handle someone tried to drill out the cylinder from the opposite side to eather try n steal it or something but that is not norm as for a would be thief you cant steal this car that way anyway cuz of the vats they would have to match the resistance programmed in the vats ecu software by putting a resister in the ignition wire under the dash for it to unlock the ignition cntrl module and allow the engine to be cranked over..but everything looks in place but a lil broken.
