steering column wobbles....how to fix?

steering column wobbles....how to fix?

ok i have tilt steering and my steering column wobbles right after it tilts and goes to the steering wheel........how would i fix this?

There's a bolt that loosens up in the GM tilt wheel design. Very common. Gotta dig long way into the column to fix it, it think. Never fixed one myself, though.

yah i searchd the tech articles and sure enough it was there......thanks

btw would i b able to borrow some of those tools from autozone?

and am i in danger by driving it under this condition cuz i probably wont b able to get it done for another week or 2

Rumor is that you can "rent" a tool from AutoZone and get your "rent" fee returned when you return the tool intact. The only special tools you should need are a wheel puller and lock plate depressor. They are't likely to have the tool for removing the pivot pins, but it's easy enough to make what you need from a machine screw and nut.

i use a deep 1/4" inverted torx socket from snap on, works way better then a short socket, cost around 10 dollars.
