WEIGHT REDUCTION IDEA!?!

ive been avidly trying to reduce the weight of my vehicle, i have taken out all interior components except for the dash, center console and the 2 front seats and seat belts... my next idea is to take a grinder and get rid of all the unnecessary brackets and weird metal crap that is designed to hold something that ive removed etc anyone done this before? how'd it turn out??? any thoughts???

Re: WEIGHT REDUCTION IDEA!?!

Waste of time, in my opinion. You'd lose maybe 5 lbs, and your car's value is permanently decreased.

Re: WEIGHT REDUCTION IDEA!?!

im in the middle of gutting mine
its far from a resto project to you **** people who say dont do it

ive gutted this thing
just took dash out tonight
center console is going next

going to fab up a custom gauge cluster with some aftermaket gauges (just the ones needed, oil pres, temp, tach, volts) and weld it to the firewall
called it a night so far though before i got the heater core out so guess that will be out some time tomorrow, fabbed up a sheet metal patch to block the holes from the fan blower, heater core box etc, going to screw it on from the engine compartment side

i need to weigh all this crap to see how much im shaving off here, but it is fun to just gut one of these, and do with it what you like

but my plans involve a rollcage so maybe you would not go as extreme as i am

but there is alot of weight to be shaved off the old beast if you got the ***** or heart to do it lol

good luck with your own efforts
im going to take some pic's when im done gutting it, maybe if there is enough interest i will post them up here

oh and btw no im not running factory motor, ecm, air, heat, or anything else that it does not need,

just a good ole 350 with vac adv dizzy, edlebrock afb
