B&M Megashifter

I got a free B&M megashifter the other day from my buddy to put in my car, and i was just wondering since he doesnt really know the answer to this, but what exactly does a megashifter do that a standar auto shifter doesnt do?

Re: B&M Megashifter

the B&M hammer shifter is what i believe is called a gated shifter. Ohh wait it might be a ratchet shifter.... Anyway the one i have (the hammer) has reverse lock out, this way during spirited driving i don't go into reverse (save the jokes for another thread). Also you can only change one gear at a time, i.e. 1st, wait, then 2nd, wait, then 3rd. I've never driven a camaro with the original shifter in it though, so i have no idea how they feel different
