Re: T-top headliner REDONE :)
any pics of the t-top openings from above? Those two concave corners on each side are the spots that give most DIY'ers the hardest time because the material won't stretch enough. Seeing how you did that part could help a lot of people.

I tried respraying my hardtop, i too bought an adhesive from autozone. The stuff lasted about an hour and an air pocket got in it, and it was like cancer from there.

I spent the 200 bucks for the abs plastic one. I know Ill never have to replace it again. The good thing about the plastic one is that if it rains the water wont absorb into the plastic like it would with the crappy stock cardboard design.

I got it from Classicindustries.com . It is plastic and you can get the fabric that matches best. Sorry no photos, just go on the web site you can find them. Also Hawksthirdgen has them too.

Year one and national parts depot (NPD) also have the plastic one. Shop around and you will find the best price. The plastic one is great because if you ever have to re-upholster it again, it wont fall apart on you. Pics look good though.... Good job!!

Re: T-top headliner REDONE :)
Has anyone tried just painting the plastic one ... maybe with even a light-textured paint? It wouldn't look stock, but at least you'd never have to worry about the material sagging.

Fiberglassing? Thats a dang good idea. I want some more info on this. did yours have any tears or rips in it? I was thinking about repairing mine but it has a few tears in it and I was just gonna buy the abs one.

Re: T-top headliner REDONE :)
Details on page 6 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2917047/6 . Only have the before shots. Ill post up the after fiberglasing pictures when I get home tonight after work.
Basically I pulled the headliner and it was broken in the middle(where the dome light mounts through) I bought fiberglass resin w/ hardner and some fiber glass cloth. Cleaned the old headliner foam off. Its best to use a bursh attachment on a vacuum for this. I put the fiber glass cloth on the parts that were ripped and torn. The rest I coated with just the resin on both inside and outside of the board. Its really strong now, I was impressed. Supposedly you can mix the resin with thinner so then it will seep into all the cardboard layers. $30 in supplies and you have yourself a headliner thats almost as though as the $200 ABS one.

Re: T-top headliner REDONE :)
my headliner is falling. how do I take it off...how do I take off the head console and I am assuming after that is done all I have to do is unscrew the visors. where is this tech article to redo it? thanks

The headliner at the top looks great, but the fibre glass resin over the old board sounds like a really great idea!
Cheers,
Richard.

When you did these did you restitch the part that stitched through the board?

Re: T-top headliner REDONE :)
i followed the headliner tech article. It came out fine, I think it even looks a lot better without the visors. One thing, the space between the t-top and headliner, there is supposed to be cloth there too. it is just the old foam in between the headliner and t-tops. does anyone understand what I mean? what should I do, its a big disappointment after the hours of putting this whole thing together.
