Pics of my interior!

It has the original woodgrain which came factory. The guy i bought the car from changed it and tried to go with just the plain black look. But I actually think the wood looks good. So i put it back on. And i havent seen many with this anymore... What do u guys think??

Don't think that's factory. Looks good, though. Very 80's.

A little too "Buick like" for my taste. I might would expect it on a Berlinetta, but not an IROC.

I'm not a fan. I believe those could've been a dealer-added option, but it didn't get on the car hauler from the factory with the wood grain pieces installed.

HAHA... thanx 4 the honesty!!! but i was never a big fan of wood grain on a IROC either. Whether we like it or not, this was popular on our cars,, especially around LA. Like someone mentioned it is an 80's look all the way. I think my biggest thing is that its different and unique too. It aint coming off!

And yeah it was factory ACCORDING TO THE RPO #.

Reminds me of an early 80's LeSabre/Park Avenue dash, the kind that was flat on the top.

I think it's amazing on the radio pod and the center console, but not so much in the dash. Kind overdoing it if you ask me. I've actually been looking for some aftermarket replacements for my radio pod and console covers.

Re: Pics of my interior!

I'd like to see that RPO code. The factory never offered a wood grain trim in a thirdgen. It was a dealer or aftermarket option, neither of which would carry an RPO.

Re: Pics of my interior!

What is that RPO code for wood grain? I have never seen wood as a factory option. Have you run this by the experts on the history board. I know my factory manual does not list a wood grain RPO. If you have a factory code you have a RARE IROC. Just curious.

The RPO is (B-18 Ornamentation Interior, Deluxe) its not known as wood grain. But yup thats it! look it up. Thats probably why its hard to find.

I know its rare. Probably worth some $$ if sold seperately!

There is no mention of this option in the "Camaro White Book" or any of the 3 1989 Camaro/Chevrolet brochures I have

The White Book only mentions the deluxe luggage trim option RPO B 48.

Sure it's not a dealer option??

Sure, but were those interiors on ebay aftermarket? You can get aftermarket woodgrain for Camaros ... some of the members on this board have them.

I'd like to see Rocdriver's RPO sheet. Got pix?

It's actually missing two pieces. There should be a piece for the defroster side and another for the light switch side.

Re: Pics of my interior!

I was just looking at an 87 IROC-Z today that was for sale... planning on parting that out. Anyway, I wrote down all the RPO codes, and B18 is one of them that it had. There was no wood grain anywhere on it and there were no holes in the dash where it could be clipped/snapped on and there were no glue marks left on the dash like someone peeled it off. Sorry, but the B18 RPO code does not mean you have wood grain.

Mike

PS - I just checked and my 1987 IROC-Z also has the RPO code B18 and it too has no marks of any kind that may have been from a wood grain finish.

Your wood grain may not make your car as rare as you think.

Yeah, B-18 is the carpeted rear quarters, I think. Also carpeted kickpanels. Also known as just "Deluxe interior" according to year one.

It's a veneer glued onto a core panel. But yes, it's real wood.

thumbs down.

I get the whole, "its 80's" but its still ugly.

Like the guy in my Firebird club....76 Trans Am...black and white with FLAMES....yeah it's 70's but I hate that frickin' thing to be anywhere near my car!!

Now you just have dash kit....so its not THAT bad

Re: Pics of my interior!

sure its 80's but its the part we'd all like to forget about the 80's. Its ugly in my opinion as well and id rip it out of there faster than you could blink. Ill say it once again, unique and different usually doesnt = good.

It reminds me when I get into construction workers and poor ppls pickup trucks and suvs and theyve "custom" made wood paneling all inside and its ugly and screwed in. It looks like garbage!

I just bought 50' of carbon fiber stick on (nice quality) to do just that, Haven't had the time to measure it all out though. There is a set on Ebay for over $200 some guy is selling. I was thinking of going $45.00

Re: Pics of my interior!

www.yearone.com Has the carbon fiber overlays and wood grain too... Order the catalog (82-92 camaro-firebird catalog, its free.) Inside they explain some of the codes, including b18... If you look in there, they sell new kick panels, with a short explination of B-18.

It's a caddymaro! The woodgrain stuff isn't from the factory, but probably a dealer option. As for why a dealer would put woodgrain in a camaro, that's beyond me

Re: Pics of my interior!

I need to contact Chevy as I got ripped off! My car has B18 and there isn't a lick of wood grain in it. The factory workers must've been sleeping that day!!

Seriously, the wood grain was either a dealer add on or a previous owner put it on. Just like today, there are kits available for just about any vehicle. Today's big kick is the carbon fiber look. The 80's, woodgrain. Not factory by any stretch though. I'm glad you were so positive about what B18 meant that you even went bold in your text. People need to be careful when stating things as facts when the details really aren't known.

Re: Pics of my interior!

[quote=scottmoyer;3862028]I need to contact Chevy as I got ripped off!

People need to be careful when stating things as facts when the details really aren't knownquote]

YEAH OKAY ,,,, factory workers sleepin,,, HAHAHA i'm sure. And so far its 50/50 as to like it or dislike it. Your interior is cool looking,, but its 99% the same as EVERYONE ON HERE!! BUT U HAD TO SHOW IT RIGHT. How do u spell ........LOSER???

Re: Pics of my interior!

rocdriver, what is your issue? You were adamant that the wood grain was factory and B18 proved it. I joked about it being the line workers forgot it on my car. I don't need to post pics of my car or my interior to show it off. Nobody said anything about the difference in the looks of the interior for you to attack me with that comment. How do I spell loser....r-o-c-d-r-i-v-e-r!

Hey man what's your problem? You're bashing someone for showing a pic of their interior yet we are in a forum called "Interior"? Not to mention you shouldn't be bashing someone to begin with because his is a helluva alot nicer than yours, I got your back Scott.

P.S. Just wondering why the hell you would start arguing w/ a moderator to begin with.

Re: Pics of my interior!

It's kinda interesting hearing people talk about the woodgrain looking bad but thinking the modern day equivalent (carbon fiber STICKERS) is cool. You'll be peeling it off in less than 10 years.
