98-02 steering wheel w/controls

How would I go about hooking up the radio controls from a 98-02 z28 steering wheel into a 92 camaro. I wanna update the look of the wheel yet have more functionality with it too

i as on a mission to do this with my dash swap since i am using a factory cd player.
i said the hell with it.
im not sure if you need the steering column out of the car, but you will need the steering wheel, cd player, cable, and i think there is a grey type ring that goes behind the steering wheel onto the column... i never tried to set it into the 3rd gen column, but that itself may be the issue.

good luck.

IMO the easiest way would be to get the whole column and wheel. I have a 4th gen cd player in my car that plugged right in. I believe it's only two wires that would need to be run from the column to the back of the radio.

i dont think the 4th gen one fits in there. believe it sits at a different angle

I have a 98 camaro steering wheel on my 87 iroc, it's the kind without the controls. Works great!

it does sit different. where i dont know for sure.
i was going to use a 4th gen tilt lever... and that didnt work. put the stocker back on.
its got a bend in it and was right up to the bezel. id say the 4th gen column may be longer?

Re: 98-02 steering wheel w/controls

keep in mind the 4th gen column also bolts up to a rack and pinion unit instead of a steering box like a 3rd gen, it would probably require quite a bit of modification to make it work.

ive never looked at one side by side, but GM doesnt waste money unless they need to. the steering damper may have the same double D shaft as earlier models. pretty standard.
