Has anyone considered a 5th gen interior swap yet?
I know this is pretty premature considering the cars aren't even on the road yet and certainly no wrecked parts cars will be readily available for a while. However, I'm curious to see what the interest is in the 3rd gen community to eventually swap to a 5th gen Camaro interior. Any thoughts on what the easy or desirable 5th gen swap parts will be? I'm curious to see if anything will be pretty much bolt-in, like the seats and center consoles are from 4th gens.

Considering the 5th gen will be based on the Zeta (IIRC) platform, very likely NOTHING will just drop in, like the 4th gen seats & center console do.
Nobody has any idea yet on overall width, so we can predict the dash yet. I doubt much, if anything, will fit without major mods.

Re: Has anyone considered a 5th gen interior swap yet?
i believe they're calling it a Zeta 2 platform. I also doubt the seats will be a direct swap, especially the rear. The fronts may work with adapter brackets. I was mostly wondering if people would consider swapping the dash and door panels if the interior widths of the 3rd and 5th gen matched up. I was wondering if people liked the center console for a possible swap also, although I don't care for it myself.

Yes, I can't wait to rip the interior out of the brand new 5th gen Camaro. Anyone know who is buying one???

I'll try to get a chance to video it & video a ride from inside. I know I'll be beating down his door to check it out anyways!

Re: Has anyone considered a 5th gen interior swap yet?
From what I have read the wheelbase is smaller than a third gen and so is the inside cabin. It seems to be more comparable in size(width) to the Mustang. When I saw the pre production model at the Chicago Auto Show it appeared that the insides would not be an easy fit.
With that said I am sure someone will find someway to make something work.

I wouldn't mind the 5th gen seats...pretty sure they are not bolt on, but thats no problem. Right now I have seats from a Dodge Conquest/Mitsubishi Starion...

I like the shots of the interior that i have seen, but nothing inside of that car would fit the look of a third gen. I like the seats and I am particularly interested in the big multi cluster guages that are in it, but would never put them into a third gen, would look best in a hot rod roadster than anything else

It's going to probably be a while before there is a 5th gen in the boneyard. I mean if you just payed that kind of cash and had a little accident, you're not going to toss it into the junk pile, you're going to fix it. Plus your insurance places aren't going to total a $20k-$45k car unless it is beyond repair lol.

But a unibody car that gets its rear crunched bad, easily qualifies as a total loss & leaves the interior intact.
I give it 1 week for a 5th gen to end up in a junkyard SOMEWHERE.

I'm starting to like the 3rd gen dash more and more as the years pass. I think that at some time not too long from now, the 4th gen dash swaps will become less popular as the 4th gens themselves become dated.

Why would you want 5th-gen anything in your car? Those 5th-gens are a$$ ugly compared to your Camaros.

Re: Has anyone considered a 5th gen interior swap yet?
the thing that makes our cars fun to work on, drive and own is that they are affordable, fast, look awsome, and parts are plentiful. i would say that 5th gen parts are going to be affordable and plentiful in about 10 years and by that time all of our cars will be rare antiques that not many people will be willing to mod as much. i honestly dont see the 5th gen swaps being all that common.
