Which Dash would you choose?
Hey Everyone.
Just out of curiosity, im trying to figure out what the most popular thirdgen Dash would be:
1 - OEM 82-89 Unmodified with stock dash & guage cluster
2 - OEM 90 - 92 Unmodified with stock dash & gauge custer
3 - 82-89 w/ Covans Classic Autometer guages - Stock dash, stock console
4 - 93-96 4th gen camaro dash swap w/ 4th gen console
5 - 93-02 4th gen t/a Dash w/ 4th gen console
6 - 97-02 4th gen camaro dash w/ 4th gen console
Just state which # you would choose and why. Would be interesting to see which dash is the most popular

Not to go off topic, but there is also an 84-86 berlinetta dash. I actually like them, with stock digital or dial gauges. That would be my choice on my next camaro.

Re: Which Dash would you choose?
What about the 87-88 T/A digital dash? That's what I've got currently. I would never swap *to* the digi-dash though - it's a pain to find replacement parts, the gauges aren't all that useful (or accurate), and it's pretty much impossible to read in direct sunlight. The only reason I'm not swapping it out is because it's original to my car, and at least it works. If it were any other car though, I'd probably go with the 98+ T/A dash.
Re: Which Dash would you choose?
Personally, I like any of the third gen dashes....I dont care for 4th gen dashes in 3rd gens... it looks out of place with the rest of the interior and the look of the car. However I respect the guys who take all that time to make one work and look good.. just not my cup of tea....sometimes just because it can be done, doesnt mean it should.

I prefer my stock analog dash in my GTA. 85-92 Pontiacs, I believe.

Re: Which Dash would you choose?
for Camaros I would go with #1 on your list since it's just classic to me. For Firebirds, I like the 90-92 analog dash best because it's the cleanest looking dash with nicer lower trim than the earlier cars.

#6 no other reason than I just really like them plus I picked up a complete dash w/all switches, cluster, and console for $180.

I say number 1!!! all the way!Just my opinion but I like a stock looking setup with a few unseen surprises under the hood!(keeps 'em guessing/thinking)!
HeeHee!
And to Ward post#4 why would someone stick that pile of wireharness and disfunctional piece of electronics in a camaro?

Re: Which Dash would you choose?
I pick #2. After all, why eff up a good thing?Easy to read, full instrumentation and a jumbo tach courtesy of the General !!
Re: Which Dash would you choose?
1 or 3
I think the stock 85-89 interior looks best. I love the old school hard edged interior. Upgrade to 4th gen seats or aftermarket seats and you're all set. Definitely don't like the 90-92 gage section.
4th gen dash/console/dr pnls belong in a 4th gen.

Re: Which Dash would you choose?
I prefer #2. I think it looks more modern than the 82-89 gauges but still looks like it belongs in the car. I would like better lighting in the cluster and white letters instead of yellow though.
Re: Which Dash would you choose?
I'd stop listening to the stock ***** on this site and be original. Do a custom dash from fiberglass or steel, or take a tape measure out to the yard and find something that fits from another vehicle.
