Re: guage cluster removal?

Drop the column so you have extra room to pull out the cluster. There's a little spring clip you have to depress on the back of the speedometer to release the cable which is a pain. Mine came off after much wiggling and scratches on the hands lol

Ok, went and took a couple pics.

The red arrows point to a couple of 10 millimeter nuts you have to take out (think they're 10 mm)

This one points to the cable release

Re: guage cluster removal?

You will gain a ton of extra slack in that speedo cable line if you find the cable in the engine bay and disconnect the two (i think) brackets/bolts holding it tight. Not mandatory but it helps. Other than that hope you have small hands and fish around the back of the cluster and sqeeze & pullclip off back.

Don't forget the two tiny fasteners on the bottom left and right on the front of the gauge cluster within the light opening pods

Re: guage cluster removal?

I used a long flat bladed screwdriver and a flashlight the second time I removed my cluster and saved a lot of cut and scratches on my hands.

Re: guage cluster removal?

Remove the dash speakers from the firewall & Re-install them back onto the dash housing.

Remove the Air Vent box at the tranny Hump and place it out of the way.

Remove the long metal brace that runs all the way across and re-install it back onto the dash housing.

It looks like you left all the wiring on the car after removing the dash housing - if that's true; remove the dash wiring harness from the car and re-install it back onto the dash housing. Yes - disconnect it from everywhere and re-install it on the housing !!

I'm not sure you will ever get a dash housing to fit back onto that car unless you rebuild it first. When I replace a dash housing it gets serviced as a complete unit - when it gets installed I hold it up, put the 6 7mm screws along the top edge,... then then 1 10mm screw on each bottom edge- DONE. After it's hung you re-install the vent at the tranny hump and start re-connecting the wires.

Yuor firewall should look more like this:
