Re: heater box

Does it smell more when the A/C or heats on? They may be stuff in the vents. I'm pretty sure you'll have to take most of the dash apart. Also you may need to check the carpet make sure it has not gotten under it. Also this is not from my camaro, We had this problem in my dad's El camino that we got, that had been sitting in a barn for over 5 years.

Re: heater box

I had something similar happen to me on an older truck once. I was a long time ago but if I remember I took out the heater box and cleaned everything real well with simple green. That took care of it. But I'm afraid if the mice lived there for a while it's going to take cleaning the whole system ducts/vents/heater core, everything to get 100 percent of the smell out.

Re: heater box

Have you cleaned everything as suggested? If the you had cleaned the entire heater/ac system (both inner and outer boxes, heater core, fan, vents, duct work) it shouldn't smell as bad as you describe. Did you clean all the carpet and kick panels as well? Mice and their waste can get anywhere.
