What do I need to make a GTA digital cluster fit?

I have a 1989 Camaro with the firebird dash conversion:

I was wondering if I could fit it in directly? I would imagine I would need a digital bezel thats for sure. How can I accomplish this?
Here is a picture of the cluster I am looking to buy.

I can't see your fist picture becuase of the image filters at work, but if you're using the standard Firebird gages I believe they are different from the one that houses the digital gages. You may actually have to change out your dash again. Not 100% sure. I haven't pulled my wife's Formula dash apart yet to confirm. As for the digital dash, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Depending on the position of the sun during the day it makes it hard to see at times. Also, looking at the picture of the gage pod you're missing the odometer part which is one of the biggest problems with mine. When it doesn't work, it doesn't track mileage. That could be good or bad. I have yet to find replacement parts or anyone that can fix mine. Good luck with yours.

Here you go I uploaded it via TGO. But I am confused at this part:
"As for the digital dash, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Depending on the position of the sun during the day it makes it hard to see at times. "

Can you maybe rephrase it? Also can I get a picture of a a GTA with the digital dash?

Re: What do I need to make a GTA digital cluster fit?

The actual dash itself is different, the plugs behind the cluster are in different locations. The entire cluster wiring harness is different, as well as the body harness. The headlight, foglight, and brake/tail light wiring are all resistance matched, so that the driver information center can tell when a bulb is out (one side's resistance is different from the other). The door open switches are also wired into the cluster, so the DIC can tell when a door is open. You will also need a different wiper fluid tank with the level sensor, also for the DIC. And, you would have to add the coolant level sensor to your radiator, it's located just below the passenger side radiator hose.

It could be done, but would basically mean swapping the entire dash and body wiring from a donor car. I wouldn't recommend it either, the digital dash is overrated. I have one, trust me it sucks. The gauges are impossible to read in direct sunlight, not very accurate (tach is in ~200RPM increments, so you can't tell the difference between 600 and 800 RPM).

Also, that cluster pictured is missing the driver information center, and trip computer, they are supposed to be on the right of the gauges.

I agree.. on the C4 vettes.. the digital cluster are hard to read in direct sunlight. I know this because I used to own an 87 C4 for 10 years. But they look great in the evening/night. I'd still replace it with a digital dash if you are going to go all the way. Looks better IMHO.

The folks who posted afterwards basically said the same thing I said. If you are driving towards the sun it is difficult to see at times. The gages are not as accurate as standard mechanical or electrical gages, but it does look awesome at night. Then of course there is the trip odometer as I mentioned previously that when it goes haywire...it's done. The DIC is also going be a headache. Eventually I plan on doing a swap to regular needle type gages that I can read better at any time during the day.

Pics of my car can be seen on my CarDomain site in my signature below.

Re: What do I need to make a GTA digital cluster fit?

I saw that cluster for sale, not worth the price IMO with it missing bezels and the odometer/systems monitor.

If you still want to do this, I have a spare dash harness for a digi dash I'd sell ya, in addition to the odometer and systems check, they are untested so I dunno if they work though. I also have extra bezels. PM me if interested.
