i searched but couldnt find much on this but when installing the new upper bearing does it get pressed in? ive been told yes and then ive been told no, to just set it in and the spring would press it where it needed to be... a lil advise here would be awesome yall......

Welcome to TGO. Not real sure which bearing you're talking about but if its the bearing under the lock plate the cup and spring will hold it in place. A little more info is in this post:

For what it's worth, I busted my bearing out in the process of changing a key cylinder. Instead of fixing them, I just bought a used entire column for $75 shipped, and installed it. It is VERY easy to install the entire column, dare I say......easier than changing the damn key cylinder alone.

 

There's a spring right behind the locking plate that holds the bearing in place. Once you remove the locking plate, the spring will be slack, and the bearing can be removed/replaced/etc. Here's a quick drawing I did a while back showing how it goes together:
