Re: Clear The Confusion - 3rd Gen Seats
Im getting ready to put seats out of a 2000 SS in my car and the driver seat is power as well, where did you run your power wire when you did yours?

Re: Clear The Confusion - 3rd Gen Seats
I had a quick question, would 68-81 Leather Camaro seats work on our cars? There was a guy selling the front Black leather 69 Camaro seats. They looked about the same size as our seats. I know the track would probably need swapped out but other than that, would they work?

Re: Clear The Confusion - 3rd Gen Seats
I switched to 99 base Firebird seats and I love the extra headroom and legroom I get from them. I put them on a thirdgen manual seat rack. Saved a little weight that way. Comfy seats and I didnt have to modify anything.
Strange thing is they were a lot darker than the stock thirdgen gray, and the gray carpet I have...
But I realized after I put them in that the stock thirdgen gray interior's gray fuzzy door carpet matches these new seats perfectly... Weird.
I dotn notice anymore, but I do wish I had gotten teh 4th gen seatbelt hoops. The seatbelt hoops were my big problem for getting any new seats, so I felt kind of trapped into a 4th gen solution, but I liked these seats a lot. They hold you in real well in the corners.

Re: Clear The Confusion - 3rd Gen Seats
The fourth gen seats bolt right on, no adjustments are necessary at all. Front and back both work. I did it to my 84 trans am and it worked great. I think they were from a camaro. They are more supportive and more comfortable, by far. I was sure glad I had them when I went on a 6 hour trip last summer that got to be like 8 hours because of weather- My brother and I were comfortable the whole time. (although the damn driveshaft shaking and vibrating got old real quick)
I guess though that mine came with the tracks on them, because I took out the seats, and all that was left were the bolts on the floor. The tracks for the new seats matched right up. I am like the only one in my area with a third-gen, so I am not worried about what "everyone else" has lol. They are relatively cheap, comfortable, and available. What more could you want?
They are lower than the original seats, I don't know by how much though. Maybe an inch or so. It was perfect for me though because I am tall (6'1'') and the extra space gave me more room for my mohawk

Re: Clear The Confusion - 3rd Gen Seats
Autotec101 posted that he installed Eagle Talon seats into his car and that they were "nearly a direct fit" and that he used the rear top portion and recovered the 3rd gen rear lower with the talon fabric.
It would be nice to know what exactly he had to do because I would assume that the Laser and Eclipse seats would fit as well. I'm interested in the 3000GT/Stealth leather seats too.

I have 01-03 grand prix seats in mine was a simple swap of rails with some 1/4x1.5 inch aluminum bar stock and even wired the seat heaters and lumbar support up

Re: Clear The Confusion - 3rd Gen Seats
I used the factory switches from the grand prix and since grand prizes were never equipt with heated or power passenger seats I swapped in the upholstery and rear seat frame from a driver side onto a passenger side bottom frame when I figure out how to add pictures I will but it is tight for the seat against center console and seat belt retractor

Re: Clear The Confusion - 3rd Gen Seats
I just went to a couple junkyards today for about 4 hours. I ended up finding 3 3000gts with seats, some a little torn up, but what turned me off was the colors, I'd definitely have to get them reupholstered. they were all cloth with weird green and purple patterns, I really with they could have just kept it simple.
In addition to that, I came across a few 4th gens, one in cloth dark grey that looked like zebra stripes, and honestly, they looked pretty good, but they were simple stock 4th gen camaro seats. Most of the seats I saw were torn up or had some funky worn foam.
Despite this, I found a set of TA fourth gen seats in a tan leather with the funny plastic design on the sides that looks like a birds wing. Of course the leather was ripped, and the headrests weren't the large beautiful ones, I can't seem to find those.
Does anyone know which model has the large roundish headrests, thats what I'm digging for.
Anyways I plan to search through another yard tomorrow and hopefull hit some more pick-n-pull locations near Sacramento, CA this weekend.
If they're out there, I'll find em.
BTW, does anyone know of some good replacement foam just in case I find the right seats that are a bit worn? I figured I could just take off the covers and add some high density foam and call it a day.
Thanks everyone

Here is what I did after reading your posts. I was afraid to get an outlandish set of seats but figured if someone can install mustang seats in ther car, i could get away with 1995 Honda seats in my 85 Z28. Here's some pics.

Here's the 84' Fiero seats in my Camaro. My fiance had to swap the rails. The Fiero seat felt more comfortable than the Camaro seats! They also have built in speakers! I hope to get them hooked up someday!

I just put chevy blazer seats, late 80s early 90s model front seats in, just swapped the rails. Will be getting the upholstery off the rear seat and puttin it on mine to match, can't beat it for 100$ and they are almost brand new, truck had 46,000 miles on it

Re: Clear The Confusion - 3rd Gen Seats
Correct, I went with 1/2" because if you go much more than that you will start seeing the spacers. Right now I used 1/2" aluminum spacers and you can't even see them....man what a huge difference.

Re: Clear The Confusion - 3rd Gen Seats
I had a pair of front seats from an 84 dodge rampage in my camaro for a while. Had to swap rails, nothing major though. Very comfortable for long drives, but didn't really hold you in place on hard corners. They were pretty tight too against the console and outer seat belt bracket, to the point where front to rear adjustability was affected. You couldn't use the rearmost couple of stops in the rails, so they wouldn't be for taller drivers. I'm 5'10" though, and they worked for me.

Re: Clear The Confusion - 3rd Gen Seats
I have an 83 Firebird. Just found a pair of leather bucket seats, black, with seat warmers, for $40. Great shape. From a 1998 Volvo S70. I'm going to attempt to pick them up. If so, I'll make a quick post about it. Can't imagine the fab work is hard at all. Oh, I wish I had a CNC machine! All of the projects.... Thanks for the info & ideas guys!
