Do these camaro seats suck?
So I finally got to drive my 92 today for the first time, and first thing i notice after pulling back in the driveway... my back was aching. And it's done this before when I've driven it. Maybe i just need to try and adjust everything perfect... but it seems like these are maybe not the best seats in the world...

Re: Do these camaro seats suck?
they are not the best , far from it . 4th gen. seats are a little better . i have them in my current ride . wish i could find a good set of recaro seats at a cheap price . i understand they are very good . oh well , i still love to drive my 3rd gen. . good luck . Re: Do these camaro seats suck?
I noticed that myself when I sold my camaro years ago for a Vette. I was spoiled the whole time. Now that I sold the vette and got back into the camaro again.. that was the first thing I noticed. However the seats look good but not as comfortable.

i dont know, but mine are great.
maybe they were different throughout the years somehow.
ive got my seat leaned back a bit more than i do in most cars though. that could have something to do with it.

Re: Do these camaro seats suck?
I have always disliked Camaro seats in the third generation cars. Most of them are ugly and uncomfortable.

Re: Do these camaro seats suck?
I have a 92 z28 and i think the seats are very comfortable. the only thing that bothers me is the seats are to close to the floor, but that's because i grew up in trucks. Other wise i think they are great, except mine has a loss spring and it tore through the seat and now it cuts my back when i get in somethimes

Re: Do these camaro seats suck?
Do they SUCK? No. Could they be better? Yep!
4th gens are more comfortable & a 100% direct bolt in, both the front & rear seats.
Wiring for electric controls isn't a direct plug in, but simple to take care of.

Re: Do these camaro seats suck?
The wiring is EXTREMELY simple if you have the donor car. At least, if you have a third generation car with power seats. The connector for fourth gen seats is the same. Just follow the power cable up to the power distribution box, and unplug it from there. All you have to do is pull up your carpet then plug the cable into the power distribution box. Then all you have to do is cut a small hole in the carpet under the seat and pull the cable through. You may need to add a fuse if your car doesn't have power windows and locks.

Are you using Camaro or Firebord/Trans Am/GTA seats? They aren't the same.

Re: Do these camaro seats suck?
I currently have no complaints with my 25 year old camaro seats. I havnt gone on any really long drives with it, but for the occasianal 30-40 minute dirve or just around town there fine for me.

Re: Do these camaro seats suck?
i dislike the seats in my TA, but i guess its cause i've gotten spoiled by the seats in my DD - G8. if I could find a set of these seats for something less that utterly rediculous, I'd throw them in every car I own. so comfy and plenty of adjustments. look forward to doing a 4th gen seat swap for price and ease of install though

Re: Do these camaro seats suck?
My 2005 GTO seats are VASTLY superior to fourth gen leather seats or anything from the third generation years. Though the 1984 Recaros aren't bad. I've got a set of those but they aren't in my car.

Re: Do these camaro seats suck?
As far as weight goes? I know the power, leather ones are heavy & the manual ones ones are very light, but I've never bothered to weigh any.

I have twin L/S Conteurs. The driver's seat, moreover, has a six-position electric track; consequently, with all the manipulation possible, you can find decent comfort. A pic, should you be interested, is in my vbGarage (lower left).

so from what im reading hear i missed out on a pretty good deal yesterday i found a set of grey leather seats out of a 2000 ss the guy only wanted 150 bucks for fronts and rears he sent me a bunch of pictures of em and i decided against buying them to pay my cell phone bill maybe i should have done it since u guys are saying its a 4 to 5 hundred dollar swap and there direct bolt in... i had black leather out of a ws6 but i traded em to my cousin who has an all black iroc that had grey interior for my black interior with my grey iroc... well we swapped interiors and he gave me 300 bucks cause mine was in better overall condition either way...

Re: Do these camaro seats suck?
not sur if the camaro is different than firebird seat wise. i love my 1989 base cloth seats. i dont like the 4th gen seats or leather seats in general. i just wish my 2003 silverado seats and cab were as low to the floor and had the leg room that my firebird has.

As far as my seats go I got my OEM Gray leather recovered in black leather, adding some additional support an they are comfy..so are the cloth ones in my IROC....but you must have power to adjust to your particular comfort level on the day you are driving...stock manual seats are pretty rigid and not comfortable....power is 100% better...I have never tried 4th gen but hear they are good too....
