Interior Leak, possible ideas?

Car-82 Trans Am, no T-tops

The passenger side front floor is leaking from somewhere. There's an inch of water there after it rains. It's not dripping, as when a pan is placed there overnight, the pan is empty but there's still water underneath it. My fathers 87 Monte Carlo had a leak there, and when the heater core was replaced, it didn't leak anymore. The leak was from water also, not coolant.

Here's one gentleman that talks about leaves clogging a hold by the water drain next to the windshield. That's one possibility.

Any other possibilities? I doubt it it coming from the window with how much water there is, but I'm not going to rule it out yet.

The ram vent(non-A/C) or cabin air recirculate door(A/C) is in the cowl air plenum to the right of the heater box. If the water drain is plugged it could cause water to fill up the plenum and leak through the flapper door. There is also a lot of seam sealer used in the cowl/firewall that could have cracked and failed after 27 years.

I would get out the garden hose and see if you can pin point the leak.

The body shop said there was a crack in the firewall, so that is what the issue turned out to be.

you might also want to check for rust thru from the cowl area into the cabin.
I had lots of pin hole spots along where the seam sealer had pulled up and allowed water to be trapped. I probably found over a dozen small holes. Since welding them up was not an option at the time, I ended up using "ospho" to convert the rust (after scraping ) back to metal and then primed and reseamsealed. no more leaks for me.

Re: Interior Leak, possible ideas?

Old thread, but I have the same problem. The water comes in when I hit a puddle around the plastic panel ( i think its called a kick panel ) I thought it could be the water coming in through the hole around the wiring harness but that's not it. Patched it up with no results. I can watch the water come in when I hit a puddle.

on my car, someone messed up the area were the bottom of the fender bolts up to the unibody( they jacked it wrong) well this cause the welds were the area meets to split a little. when i ran over a puddle i would should water into my interior trough screw holes...to solve this i filled the splits areas with sililicone. idially i should have bend them back into place.
