Just Curious On What You Think

Ok well I want to take my interior on my 90 camaro and put black seats and black carpet. But was wondering about painting like the center console and dash white and keep dash mat black and was wondering what you guys would think of that and want to paint the car like a dark wine red so what do you guys think.

I like that idea and I have no clue on the plastic piece but you could look it up or just take fine sandpaper and smooth it out it would be a cool look with the dark maroon and black those two colors on a car is sexy together.

I wouldn't paint your dash white. Im a member of the corvette forum as well and there was a guy who painted his dash white and he regretted it. He said the glare on the windshield was so bad that he took it off and ended up buying a new dash to replace it with. I'd advise against it.

Re: Just Curious On What You Think

First i wanna say nice job for the idea and the painting.
But, it sticks out like a sore thumb IMHO.
And it like a month, boy oh boy that thing will show dirt.
I wish i would've seen this thread before to advise against it but w/e.
To each his own. If you like it and are happy with it, then i'm happy for you!
Good Job for being original.

Re: Just Curious On What You Think

Yea your right it does stand out but I am a person who stands out and love how black and white look together thats also why the bolts and the vents and console lid are still black to match other wise it would of been overkill yea your right it will prolly get dirty but its enamel so I can clean it. But thank you and yea I've never seen it and wanted to do something unique but still stock looking it may not be the best color but I love the contrast.

And the grenade is a real grenade just made into a shifter **** I made one for me and my bro and its its really nice and fits my hand good I like it better then a Hurst T-Handle. And thank you.

if you like it thats all that matters.. personally.. i love the idea of white and black interior to follow the cars color(mine is white) i did something similar to you only on the seats i had redone in white leather with black inlays.. as for the dirt if you keep up after it itll never be a problem

btw those seats are 2 years old in the picture and thier still bright and clean

I love the seats. I think that's a good contrast that flows well with the car. The seats are the right amount of it, and aren't over powering on their own. Well done.

As for the center console subject, I don't like it. Painted plastics never look good to me. They seriously stick out and not in a good way. If you look at the close up picture of the radio area you can see how the plastic curves and is not even. This has nothing to do with painting but rather shows how white can bring out the details of the plastic. The interiors in our cars aren't made well but their usual dark colors hide this fairly well. The white shows every flaw in the molding of the plastic, it shows the warping that occurs from age and generally makes things look worse. I'm not faulting the paint work, it looks good in the photos at least, and I am glad the screws were kept in their original black coloring. I think that helped. My other problem with the center console being done in white is that its over powering. Nothing else in the car is colored that way and as a result it looks out of place. I think it would surely look better if the two tone look you were going for was carried on in the rest of the interior.

Re: Just Curious On What You Think

Yea and thank you for your opinion but I wanted it to stand out yea theres warp in it but its fixable. As for saying nothing else is white in the interior its because its not completly finished and the car will be a dark color with a white strip down the center so I see it as fitting but your welcome to your opinion and personally I love the look you dont have to.

I made it I was able to buy dud grenades and it had a hole in the bottom welded it up and drilled a hole in the side and tapped it out and screwed it on. So you cant buy one that I know of but it can be made.

Ive made two of them and they work fine and simple and cheap to do i was able to pick em up for like 5 dollars then some welding wire and welded up and all and simple as it sounds.

Re: Just Curious On What You Think

You should do it then I love it just make sure you paint it other wise you will have a silver part from weld after grinding it down smooth. Pretty cheap to do and doesnt take much time. It took me maybe a hour tops. Hardest part is drilling it with out breaking it. But just make sure not to put to much pressure on it and the top piece only goes to a certain point on the grenade so make sure you have it somewhere that is nice for you. I personally liked it where I put it and also like the pin where I can pull it to mess with the passengers haha. Its best to take black spray paint and paint in light coats just to get the grooves and the welds somewhat matched it wont stay the color you paint it. It will wear and give it a real look. But maybe I will start a trend with it since my brother wanted his done for his truck also. Good luck if you do end up doing it. If you want anymore info on how to just PM me.
