Interior Picture Help Please!!!

I did a search and wasn't able to turn up a good picture... I'm looking for a picture of the rear drivers side with no interior plastics. Basically on top of the wheel well. I need to fix up a small dent with a TINY bit of rust on the inner wheel well, and I'm wondering if I can get to it from above. I have read that taking out the rear plastic can be a small hassle, so i want to find out if the wheel well is double layered before tearing it apart!

I think that makes sense... Hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about!!

Yeah, that is what I am looking for. I guess my question is, is that the tire right under that? or is there another layer of metal before the rubber?

awesome! thanks again. I pulled the plastic out to, and sure enough... there it was! the well is a little worse than I had thought, but now that it is apart, I can fix it up. might also be a good time to do the headliner since one out of 4 panels is already off!!

yeah while you're fixing it i'd recommended you also pull the wheel and check the seams in the wheel well and respray some undercoating to prevent future rust

Yeah, I've actually gone through the other 3 wheels cleaned them up and sprayed rubberized undercoating in there. this is the last one, saved for last because i knew it would be the worse.

OK don't want to sound like a know it all or anything but, rubberized undercoating is the worse s**t out there, it causes more damage than good, i have used it and it holds a lot of water, everyone else that i talk to said the same thing, you need something harder and more bondable, something like bed liner, and then a good coat of paint, if you paint rubberized undercoating you will notice it cracks, and that's where water gets in, hope this helps.

Re: Interior Picture Help Please!!!

That was exactly the same issue I had with my 89 RS. Went to go install a 9-bolt rear, hand slipped off the wrench, and punched right through to the interior. Wasn't a good day, since I'm not a body work kinda guy. Thats one of the first areas I check when looking for one of these cars. Very happy to find this area solid on my recently purchased 87 TA.
