Is this gonna be a ***** to fix?
So i've been looking at those funky *** "screws" that hold together the interiors in our cars, i think it's hex screws? Well i recently found what i thought was a hex screw. put it in one of em, and it fit. Least i thought it did.
(i still think it's right btw) Well i put it in one for the power window panel, and found one of em was loose. tightened it up, no problem. Decided to check em all out. Well knowing my INCREDIBLY bad luck with cars, the damn thing falls apart on my. It's like ther "Hex tool" went right through it and tore it to hell, it's completely stripped. Well needless to say after that i didn't touch a thing after...
I have one question, how might I, if I need to, remove that hex screw in the future?

Small "Easy-out" or take your Dremel tool and cut a slot in it. Otherwise try gluing a piece of wire to it or an old allen key with some crazy glue.

alot of the torx screws on the door panel and else where are fake. On the door handle trim I think there is 6 real ones and several fake plastic ones molded in. make sure not to break the plastic ones.

I don't have any hex screws on the interior of the car, so I assumed it was torx screws I guess the camaro may be different in the screws they used. Are we talking allen wrench or socket when we say hex I've known people to refer to both as hex screws.

i hope you didn't mistake one for a plastic fake one lol. i did that once and i ended up trying to pry it out and realized the whole plate comes out o.O

I think you misunderstood me, I mean that I think the OP thought that the interior screws were hex, as in the type that uses an allen wrench, when they are really torx.

yeah like said some are fake and they should be torx. ive never seen a hex screw on the interior of my car at least not a visible one.

I stripped one in my arm rest.. What I nightmare.. Had to find a 3/8 SHCS and grind the end down because the sheetmetal it screws into was all messed up..

you'll find the right torx bit screwdriver or sockets for a socket wrench at most tool stores. Using a hex wrench might work for some of the little guys that aren't torqued down very much, but you run the risk of rounding them out. I believe the small interior trim screws require a "T10" torx bit. The number gets larger as the size of the bolt goes up. The bolts that hold the seatbelt retractor in are a T47. The bolts that the rear seat snaps onto I believe is a T30. I think the doorpanel armrest screws are T30 also. And as stated, watch out for the fake plastic ones that are just for show. If you really aren't sure from just looking at them, use a magnet since all the real ones are steel.

Alright, Thanks for the help. Torx screws then huh? Guess i got the name wrong. I mighta got unlucky with one of those damn plastics, I'll have to check. I gotta be more careful next time!

All the smaller torx interior trim screws are T-15.Shifter plate,Radio bezel,Cluster and dash bezels and Door panel trim.

I bought a ratcheting screw driver kit which came with all the torx bits for like 25 bucks at the hardware store... saves me a ton of time over the regular screw driver ones or the ones which are fitted into sockets. Although I still use those for the seatbelts, seats and arm rests... also not to be a butthead but pictures totally help
